Disney Exposes Meg Pockets $3 Million from Charity
Disney reportedly sent IRS tax files that revealed a shocking truth about Meghan Markle’s compensation for her voiceover work in Disney’s documentary Elephant.
It was previously reported that Meg’s compensation for the project would be donated to Elephants Without Borders, a U.S.-based non-profit organization that funds conservation efforts of elephants in Botswana.
However, it has now been revealed that Meg received a hefty sum of $3 million from Disney for her work on the project.
Despite speculation about the exact amount Meg and her husband, Prince Harry, were paid for the project, the $3 million figure has not yet been confirmed by any official source.
Trending:
Disney initially wanted to pay the charity directly, but Meg refused, stating that she wanted her organization, Archewell, to receive the tax credit.
Disney allegedly gave her the sum and then asked for proof that it had been donated.
Many questions still remain regarding the final destination of Meg’s compensation for Elephant.
Did Disney pay her directly?
Was 100% of her compensation donated to Elephants Without Borders?
Has the charity actually received any money related to this?
Allegedly, no proof was ever provided, which led to Disney donating the money to the charity themselves.
Disney’s decision to expose Meg’s alleged fraud has resulted in the Sussexes never working with Disney or any of its subsidiaries again.
The couple’s reputation has been tarnished, with rumors circulating about Meg’s poor voiceover performance and the alleged theft of the money from Elephants Without Borders.
Journalists have been urged to follow up with the players involved, including Disney, the charity, and Meg’s team, to ask those questions.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that Elephants Without Borders did receive a grant from the Disney Conservation Fund in 2020, as evidenced by Walt Disney Company’s Corporate Responsibility Report for 2020.
However, the actual dollar amount of the grant was not disclosed.
The corresponding documents for 2019 show that Disney did not donate to Elephants Without Borders in that year.
The most recent Form 990 for the charity available for public review is for 2019, which shows no significant change in their donations or grants received in 2019 vs 2018.
This indicates that Meg did not donate the money she received from Disney to the charity.
It’s worth noting that Meg did receive some press out of the project, with publications like Oprah Daily and E!
Online covering her involvement.
However, it appears that the Elephants did not receive the $3 million that was previously reported.
This news comes after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s former Sussex Royal Charity was accused of inappropriate use of funds, lack of independence, and conflict of interest over payments made to Prince Harry’s company, Travelist.
An investigation by the Charity Commission also found that the foundation did not breach charity law.
The revelation of Meg’s alleged fraud has shocked many, with questions about the ethics of celebrities using their fame to profit from charitable organizations.
It remains to be seen how this will impact Meg and Harry’s reputation in the long run.
