Emily Ratajkowski says she doesn’t get hired because her ‘boobs are too big’

Emily Ratajkowski may be recognized for her great body, but the 26-year-old says she’s been chastised for being “too sexy” and that it’s hurt her career.

Ratajkowski, who appears on the July cover of Harper’s Bazaar, claims she is judged based on her appearance, notably her breasts.

“There’s this thing that happens to me: ‘Oh, she’s too sexy.’ It’s like an anti-woman thing, that people don’t want to work with me because my boobs are too big,” Ratajkowski, 26, tells the magazine.

“What’s wrong with boobs? They’re a beautiful feminine thing that needs to be celebrated. Like, who cares? They are great big, they are great small. Why should that be an issue?”

Ratajkowski, who rose to prominence after posing topless in the Blurred Lines music video, has already discussed this issue. When Kim Kardashian was chastised on social media for uploading a topless selfie, Ratajkowski responded with her own.

“We are more than just our bodies, but that doesn’t mean we have to be shamed for them or our sexuality,” she tweeted. “Even if being sexualized by society’s gaze is demeaning, there must be a space where women can still be sexual when they choose to be.”

“If you’re a sexy actress it’s hard to get serious roles. You get offered the same thing that they’ve seen you in,” Ratajkowski said.

Ratajkowski, who appeared naked for the August issue of Harper’s Bazaar in the United States, has stated that women are too often chastised for flaunting their sexuality.

“Our society tells women we can’t be, say, sexy and confident and opinionated about politics,” she wrote in an essay for Glamour. “This would allow us too much power. Instead our society asks us to declare and defend our motivations, which makes us second-guess them, all while men do what they please without question.”

In the interview, Ratajkowski also mentioned her long-term partner, Jeff Magid, saying: “My boyfriend is super confident and was raised by his mum, so he also genuinely loves and admires women. Not just ‘Oh yeah, women are cool’. He deeply loves and respects women, so he loves what I’m all about.”

Emily Ratajkowski will return to the big screen in Cruise later this year, and her other future movies include In Darkness and Welcome Home.
