Emilia Clarke says they fought over n@ked scenes in GOT

Emilia Clarke has opened up about her experiences with n/d^ty on the set of Game of Thrones, revealing that she had several on-set “fights” over n/de scenes after she appeared n/ked in the show.

The actor said she felt compelled to strip off for certain roles after being warned about “disappointing” her fans from the hit fantasy series.

Speaking on Dax Shephard’s Armchair Expert podcast, Emilia said she now feels more comfortable with setting boundaries and deciding what she is comfortable with doing.

“I’ve had fights on set before where I’m like, ‘No, the sheet stays up’, and they’re like, ‘You don’t wanna disappoint your Game of Thrones fans’. And I’m like, ‘Fuck you.’” Emilia said.

She also admitted to feeling overwhelmed by the “fuck ton of n/d^ty” in the first season of Game of Thrones, where her character, Daenerys Targaryen, was often seen n/ked.

Emilia credits Jason Momoa, her former co-star who played her on-screen lover Khal Drogo, with helping her set boundaries.

“I took the [GoT] job and then they sent me the scripts and I was reading them, and I was, like, ‘Oh, there’s the catch’.

But I’d come fresh from drama school, and I approached [it] as a job – if it’s in the script then it’s clearly needed, this is what this is and I’m gonna make sense of it… Everything’s gonna be cool,” she explained.

However, she admitted that she was unprepared for the level of n/d^ty required on set.

“So I came to terms with that beforehand, but then going in and doing it… I’m floating through this first season and I have no idea what I’m doing, I have no idea what any of this is.

“I’ve never been on a film set like this before, I’d been on a film set twice before then, and I’m now on a film set completely n/ked with all of these people, and I don’t know what I’m meant to do and I don’t know what’s expected of me, and I don’t know what you want and I don’t know what I want,” she said.

Emilia said that filming the intimate scenes with Jason Momoa helped her feel more comfortable.

“It was definitely hard, which is why the scenes, when I got to do them with Jason, were wonderful, because he was like, ‘No, sweetie, this isn’t okay.’ And I was like, ‘Ohhhh.’”

Emilia’s revelations come after she recently discussed the impact of her two brain aneurysms, which she suffered in 2011 and 2013, while filming Game of Thrones.

In a personal essay written for The New Yorker earlier this year, Emilia revealed that she underwent two surgeries and spent weeks in the hospital after the first aneurysm.

She said that she had experienced a great deal of anxiety and exhaustion after the incidents and that she struggled to cope with the demands of the show.

“I was often so woozy, so weak, that I thought I was going to die,” she wrote.

“The pain was there, and the fatigue was like a woolly mammoth that walked by my side, but I would soldier on and do my job.”

Emilia can currently be seen in the festive film Last Christmas, which is based on the Wham! song of the same name.

The film, which co-stars Henry Golding, Emma Thompson, and Michelle Yeoh, follows the story of Kate, a young woman who works as an elf in a year-round Christmas shop.
