Ellie Goulding nearly drowned in a frozen lake in Norway after freak accident
Ellie Goulding barely avoided drowning in a frozen lake in Norway after the belt wagon she was riding in fell through the ice and sank, nearly killing her and another passenger.
The Love Me Like You Do singer, 29, shared a photo of the vehicle slipping beneath the ice on Instagram.
The Burn singer was in Norway a few weeks ago as part of her European tour with photographer Conor McDonnell.
Her and Conor said they had to flee via the roof with only minutes to spare.
“Throwback to a few weeks ago when myself and @conormcdphoto nearly ended up in a lake in -30,” Ellie told fans.

“Note to self don’t drive a BV206 over a frozen lake.”
Conor shared a photo of the truck immersed in water on social media, captioning it, “So me and @elliegoulding weren’t going to post about this but we decided that it’s too mad of a story not to tell. This photo is from when we were in Norway a few weeks ago.”

“That moment when you’re in -25 in the middle of nowhere in Norway in the pitch black and your belt wagon crashes through the ice in the middle of a lake and you have to emergency evacuate through the roof.
Conor said, “Oh s**t we’re in” was my first though. Second was to take photos. We were in the front cabin. That is pretty much under water in this photo.
‘A few minutes later it was all completely gone under the water and ice for good.’
Conor’s big break came in 2014, when Kim Kardashian and Kanye West hired him to photograph their opulent Florence wedding after Annie Leibovitz backed out.
McDonnell has uploaded many photos of the duo hiking through the icy slopes of Tyin-Filefjell, where temperatures can plummet below -32 degrees Celsius.
Ellie will perform in Germany, France, Spain, and Switzerland as part of her tour before going to the United Kingdom in March. The tour is in support of her 2015 album Delirium.
