The story of Elizabeth Taylor, the English-American actress who rose to fame in the 1950s, is one that is full of scandal and drama.

She captured the hearts of many with her beauty and acting skills, and became one of the biggest stars in the showbiz industry after her debut performance in Father of the Bride.

However, it was her love life that dominated headlines as she suffered a string of unsuccessful marriages and enjoyed countless affairs with high-profile men.

Taylor, who died 10 years ago on March 23, married seven different men in her lifetime, and even married one of them twice.

Her first marriage was to Conrad ‘Nicky’ Hilton Jr – the son of hotelier Conrad Hilton, in 1950.

Before marrying Hilton, the actress was engaged to billionaire Bill Pawley and football player Glenn Davis, but both engagements ended in disaster.

Following her crumbling marriage with Hilton, Elizabeth found love again with her second husband, Michael Wilding, whom she married in 1952.

The lovebirds had two sons together, Michael and Christopher, but unfortunately, their love story wasn’t meant to be, and the pair divorced after just four years.

Then came her third marriage with producer Mike Todd in 1957.

Elizabeth became a proud mum for the third time when she welcomed the couple’s daughter the same year.

Tragedy struck a year later when Elizabeth’s beloved husband, who she previously described as ‘the love of her life’, died in a tragic plane crash.

Mike Todd’s sudden death led to one of Elizabeth’s most scandalous relationships – her alleged affair with Eddie Fisher.

Fisher left his wife after falling head over heels for Taylor in 1958, and they officially married in 1959, on the same day Fisher’s divorce was finalised.

Just when the press thought Taylor’s love life couldn’t get more dramatic, she started filming Cleopatra in Rome and was cast alongside Welsh actor, Richard Burton.

The pair were caught on a yacht in Ischia, which resulted in the end of Elizabeth’s marriage to Fisher.

Burton also left his wife, Sybil Williams, for the Hollywood actress after their affair was exposed by the media.

The pair were so crazy about one another, that nine days after her divorce from Fisher was finalised, Elizabeth and Richard made their love story official by saying ‘I do’.

Their whirlwind romance is regarded as one of the biggest scandals in Hollywood’s history.

While their passionate affair drew in intense criticism, Elizabeth and Richard proved their love was real when they tied the knot, and made their marriage last for ten years from 1964 to 1974 – Liz’s longest marriage to date.

Sadly, their love didn’t last due to the actress’s battle with booze and her husband’s infidelity throughout their ten-year marriage, and the pair officially called it quits on their love story in 1974.

A year later, after spending some time apart, they famously decided to rekindle their romance and tied the knot again in 1975.

After soon realizing that old habits die hard, Liz and d–k couldn’t make their relationship work after reuniting and decided to part ways again after just a few short months.

In her now-iconic 1988 essay for People, the actress gushed over her ex-husband, describing him as the true love of her life – even after two divorces.

After she took some time to get over her heartbreak, Taylor married her sixth husband, politician John Warner in 1976.

The pair enjoyed a whirlwind romance, and tied the knot within five months of their first date, but unfortunately due to Elizabeth’s dependency on alcohol and drugs, their marriage crumbled after six years in 1982.

Elizabeth remained single for a number of years following on from her divorce from John Warner.

Instead of falling into another relationship, the actress decided to work on herself, and vowed to kick her addictions before entering into a new romance with someone new.

Then, in 1991, Taylor met her most anonymous husband yet.

Elizabeth fell for Larry Fortensky, a construction worker, while the pair were seeking help for their addictions in a rehabilitation center in LA.

The couple married at Taylor’s close friend Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch, and enjoyed a blissful marriage for over five years before they divorced in 1996.

Unlike her previous relationships, Elizabeth maintained a close friendship with Larry, and the pair stayed in touch until Taylor’s death in 2011.

Although Elizabeth famously declared she only ever slept with the seven men she married, after her untimely death, it was claimed that she had s** with scores of actors.

The icon’s secret love life was laid bare in an astonishing litany of claims made by authors Darwin Porter and Danforth Prince in their shocking biography, Elizabeth Taylor: There Is Nothing Like a Dame.

The writers alleged that Elizabeth had secret affairs with future American presidents John F Kennedy and Ronald Reagan when she first shot to stardom.

s**ually precocious and physically mature for her age, it’s written that Elizabeth set her sights on older actors and at 15 went to 36-year-old Ronald Reagan’s apartment to lobby for a film role.

According to the book, the future US president, who was married to actress Jane Wyman, gave 5ft 2in Taylor a drink and treated her like an adult.

“I could tell he wanted to get it on, but he seemed reluctant to make the first move,” Taylor later told friends.

“I became the aggressor.

I wished they’d been casting Lolita around that time, I could have won an Oscar playing the nymphet.

After a heavy make-out session on the sofa, we went into the bedroom…” she told.

Following on from her fling with Reagan, her next political s**ual encounter was with future president John F Kennedy.

JFK, who was 15 years older than the actress, is reported to have persuaded her to go skinny-dipping in actor Robert Stack’s pool.

According to the book, she told friends that she had a 3 some with JFK and Stack.

In between her marriage with Todd and Wilding, Elizabeth allegedly set her sights on singer Frank Sinatra.

The actress set her heart on marrying Sinatra and, according to the book, tried to blackmail him into it by saying she was pregnant.

But he refused and allegedly made arrangements for her to have an abortion.

Throughout her career, Elizabeth was married eight times to seven men, converted to Judaism, endured several serious illnesses, and led a jet-set lifestyle, including assembling one of the most expensive private collections of jewelry in the world.

After many years of ill health, Taylor died from congestive heart failure at 79.
