Duke and Duchess of Sussex Officially Vacate Frogmore Cottage

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have officially vacated Frogmore Cottage on the King Charles Windsor Estate.

In a statement, Sir Michael Stevens, Keeper of the Privy Purse, announced that the royal couple has repaid the expenditure incurred by the Sovereign Grant for the renovation of Frogmore Cottage, leaving the Crown with a significantly enhanced asset.

The decision for Prince Harry and Meghan to remove their belongings from their former home came after King Charles allegedly served them an eviction notice following the publication of Harry’s memoir, “Spare.”

The couple has now relocated all their personal items from the five-bedroom, four-bathroom Grade II listed house to their £11 million property in Santa Barbara.

However, there is one asset that the couple had to leave behind.

Despite spending £2.4 million renovating Frogmore Cottage into a four-bedroom and nursery property in preparation for the arrival of their son, Archie Harrison, the Royals were forced to part ways with the eco-boiler installed during the extensive renovations.

This high-tech, planet-friendly equipment, estimated to cost up to £150,000, will remain at Frogmore Cottage.

Fans of the Royal Family were given a rare glimpse inside Frogmore Cottage through Harry and Meghan’s Netflix documentary.

The documentary showcased personal photographs, including Meghan painting her nails in the kitchen and the couple sharing a kiss while Meghan perched on a kitchen worktop.

It was the first time such intimate images from a royal property had been shared with the public.

Prince Harry and Meghan last stayed at Frogmore Cottage together during the summer of 2022, coinciding with the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations and their daughter Lilibet’s first birthday.

Prince Harry, however, returned to the Windsor-based property for the final time earlier this year during his High Court trials in London.
