Duke and Duchess of Sussex Leave Frogmore Cottage Amid Eviction Notice

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan, have officially left Frogmore Cottage following an eviction notice from the King earlier this year.

Sir Michael Stevens, the keeper of the privy purse, confirmed their departure from the five-bedroom property located on the Windsor estate.

However, a senior royal aide has clarified that no decision has been made regarding the new occupants of the house.

There are reports suggesting that the King may attempt to persuade his disgraced brother, Prince Andrew, to downsize from his seven-bedroom royal lodge home and move into Frogmore Cottage.

The renovation of Frogmore Cottage, which was previously divided into flats for staff, cost British taxpayers £2.4 million to transform it into a home for Prince Harry and Meghan.

After the couple stepped back from their official royal duties, they repaid the money in a deal that also covered several years’ rent.

It remains uncertain whether the Sussexes were able to recover any of that money after being asked to vacate the property.

Sir Michael, the King’s most senior financial advisor, stated, “We can confirm that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have vacated Frogmore Cottage.

We will not be providing further details on these arrangements here.

However, it is worth mentioning that, as previously stated, the Duke and Duchess have covered the costs incurred by the Sovereign Grant for the renovation of Frogmore Cottage.

This has significantly enhanced the Crown’s assets.”

Frogmore Cottage, acquired by Queen Victoria in the 19th century, is part of the taxpayer-funded occupied Royal Palace estate.

Prince Andrew, who intends to refurbish Royal Lodge in the coming months, currently holds a 75-year lease on the 30-room house from the independent Crown estate.

Despite reports, Prince Andrew seems unwilling to leave his current residence, which he shares with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York.

Earlier this year, a source revealed to OK!

magazine, “Andrew is determined to remain at Royal Lodge for the duration of his lease.

He will not give up Frogmore without a fight.
