Director discusses s-x scenes by Lily James, Sebastian Stan

Craig Gillespie, the director of Hulu’s Pam & Tommy, spoke to Decider about working on the show and some of the creative decisions behind it.

The show is a retelling of the Pamela Anderson/Tommy Lee s^x tape scandal of the ’90s, and it explores the couple’s love story and the fallout from the tape’s release.

Gillespie, who also directed I, Tonya, wanted to take on the project because he was interested in exploring how society treated Anderson and Lee.

The show starts with an outsider’s perspective, Rand Gauthier, the contractor who stole and leaked the tape.

Gillespie liked this structure, which allowed the audience to see Pam and Tommy from afar before getting to know them. Gillespie worked with Sebastian Stan, who played Tommy Lee, in I, Tonya and praised his ability to balance comedy and drama.

He also had high praise for Lily James, who played Pam, and said he was amazed by her performance in an early scene.

One of the scenes that shifted the tone of the show for Gillespie was the “Getting to Know You” scene in which Pam and Tommy are alone at the mansion.

Gillespie said he wanted to show what they were like without cameras on them and to play it against a beautiful, innocent scene.

The show’s approach to s^x scenes and nudity was intentional, according to Gillespie.

They tried to be specific about where it would serve the character and story, and they consciously steered away from the tape.

Gillespie’s episodes are followed by those of Hannah Fidell, Lake Bell, and Gwyneth Horder-Payton.

Gillespie said they talked about film language and tone and used a single-camera style that allowed the audience to make their own choices about what was funny and what was dramatic.

He felt the material was strong enough to do that, and he was pleased with how the directors handled it.

Overall, Gillespie enjoyed working on Pam & Tommy and felt that the show’s complex themes made it a worthwhile project.

He said, “I think it’s a really interesting story, and there are themes that come through it that are very timely and relevant to today.”

Gillespie also spoke about the challenges of shooting s^x scenes for the show.

He said that they wanted to capture the euphoria of the couple’s courtship and marriage, which included some fun and stylized scenes.

However, they were also strategic about the use of nudity and wanted it to serve the character and story rather than being gratuitous.

He noted that Tommy Lee’s famous conversation with his penis was included in the show, but they were careful not to shy away from the characters.

The director also touched on the show’s exploration of celebrity culture and how the media treats public figures.

He noted that the story of Pam and Tommy was a product of its time, but it still resonates today.

He said, “I think there’s always been this fascination with celebrity and taking them down a notch.

It’s always been there, but now there are so many platforms to consume it on.” Gillespie feels that the show’s examination of this topic is particularly relevant in today’s media landscape.

Gillespie also spoke about the show’s tone, which shifts between comedy and tragedy.

He said that they wanted to allow the audience to laugh at the absurdity of the situation while also feeling empathy for the characters.

He noted that the show explores themes of love, loss, and betrayal, and he hopes that it will resonate with viewers.

In terms of working with the cast, Gillespie praised both Lily James and Sebastian Stan for their performances.

He noted that James was able to convey a lot of nuance in her portrayal of Pam and that Stan was able to balance the comedic and dramatic elements of the role.

He also had high praise for Seth Rogen, who plays Rand Gauthier, and said that he brought a lot of depth to the character.

Overall, Gillespie feels that Pam & Tommy is a unique and interesting project that explores a fascinating moment in celebrity history.

He hopes that viewers will appreciate the show’s nuanced approach to the story and the themes that it explores.
