Daniel Craig ran away after breaking Dave Bautista’s nose in ‘Spectre’ fight scene

Daniel Craig detailed some of the most severe injuries that occurred on the set of his “James Bond” flicks, including breaking Dave Bautista’s nose during a fight scene and fleeing for fear of retaliation.

During a recent interview on The Graham Norton Show, the actor shared the story ahead of the theatrical release of No Time to Die on Thursday (30 September).

Recalling one of his injuries, Craig said that Bautista had been “gentle” with him while they were filming the fight scene, but still ended up hurting his knee.

“My knee which was on Spectre. That was Dave Bautista, God bless him, who is a professional wrestler. I ended up on the wall, but my knee was over here somewhere,” Craig said, gesturing away from him. “I knew and it was horrible because if anyone’s had a serious injury, you just know in your head that something is really wrong.”

Later, Craig accidently fractured the 6ft 3in man’s nose during shooting a fight scene, and he described his panic on The Graham Norton Show.

“I was out, and then we went back and we re-filmed it, and I had to film it with a brace on and we kind of – it was a struggle to do it.

“But, I broke his nose… I didn’t do it deliberately, it was a mistake. And it was so – like I said, he’s a big guy, professional wrestler, you really wouldn’t mess with him, and I threw this punch, I hit him on the nose and I heard this crack, and I went, ‘Oh God no!’ and ran away [laughs] cause I thought he was gonna come after me.

“And he was so sweet, and he literally just did something like this [mimics re-setting a broken nose] ‘Ah, it’s fine.’ He’s a lot tougher than I am, I’ll give you that.”

Batista tweeted a photo of his nose after the accident after seeing Craig’s recollections become viral on Twitter.

“I dug this up. I took this right after I got cleaned up,” Batista said.

The soon-to-be WWE Hall of Famer, on the other hand, had a different recollection of events. “He did not run!!! He started screaming “F*** I broke his nose!!” And he did.

“And then he hugged me, apologised, we laughed, I changed clothes, shoved TP up my nose and we continued to make one of the best fight scenes ever. Very proud of it. And I love me some DC,” Batista said.

Craig has had multiple injuries while portraying James Bond in five films.

Craig offered an emotional remark about his experience in the series in a new documentary for Apple TV+ that was published earlier this month.

Craig fought back tears as he said, “A lot of people here worked on five pictures with me. I know there are a lot of things said about what I think of these films, but I’ve loved every single second of these movies. And especially this one because I’ve got up every morning, and I’ve had the chance to work with you guys. And that has been one of the greatest honors of my life.”

“No Time To Die,” the forthcoming 25th James Bond film, will be Daniel Craig’s fifth and last excursion as 007. Bond producer Barbara Broccoli stated there were no plans to consider Craig’s succession until 2022, when she spoke to BBC Radio 4’s “Today” program with her fellow production associate Michael G. Wilson early Monday morning.

“We’re not thinking about it at all,” she said. “We want Daniel to have his time of celebration. Next year we’ll start thinking about the future.”

Wilson added: “He’s been such a great Bond. Those are big shoes to fill. I can’t even [think if it’s] possible.”

In addition to his work in the Bond films, Craig has also appeared in a number of other notable films and television shows, including The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Road to Perdition, and Purity.
