Dakota Johnson’s pubic hair was computer-generated in Fifty Shades

Although most people’s professions sometimes need them to perform strange things, we are certain that nothing you have ever been required to do is as strange as adding fake pubes to your private parts, as it happened to Dakota Johnson.

Yes, all of the pubes shown during the sex scenes in Fifty Shades of Grey were digitally inserted.

The fact was revealed in a New York Times article about the difficulties of shooting se* scenes.

While Dakota Johnson, who plays Anastasia Steele, was outfitted with comparable modesty-protecting underwear, Jamie Dornan, who plays Christian Grey, donned a “penis pouch.”

“[She] had kind of a patch that went over her pubic area, and right round her whole body,” said Seamus McGarvey, the film’s cinematographer.

“We were in the curious situation, in post-production, of adding [pubic hair],” he said.

“I wouldn’t say it was one of the highlights of my career, but it certainly was one of the most surreal scenarios.”

Dakota previously admitted to having a double, telling the Daily Star: “There was a close up of a bum getting hit with a belt. That was not my bum, because I didn’t want to get hit with a belt.”

Seán continued: “We did have a b-tt double for Dakota. I had the pleasure of casting a non-tattooed bottom — Surreal Scenario No. 2.”

Additionally, other technologies were used to make the performers comfortable:

“In the Red Room, when things heat up a little bit, that was less choreographed. Sometimes we would use a remotely operated camerahead so the actors wouldn’t have an operator leaning in.”

Dallas Buyers Club director Jean-Marc Vallée said that while he has “never seen an actor with an erection,” it is normal for the actors to get a little turned on. Director Adrian Lyne of Fatal Attraction continues: “The scene wouldn’t be working if they weren’t. Obviously, you’re not literally doing penetration but they’re both aroused; they would have to be; otherwise the scene would be hopeless.”

Additionally, it’s been said that people in general have the same body insecurities that performers do. Despite having no legitimate cause for fear, Adrian admits that  “I did have [an actor concerned about his manhood] — without the slightest reason to be worried — but it did show the amount of paranoia in their minds.”

“It happened in my first feature film,” adds Jean-Marc. “The lead actress had to perform a se* scene, and I think she was 35 at the time. She wanted to really talk about the angles and not show her from behind, and O.K. from the side, but not her breasts when she laid down. I can understand.”
