Coleen Rooney forgives cheating husband Wayne for his ‘unacceptable’ sex scandals

In a new documentary, Coleen Rooney speaks out about her husband Wayne’s many public infidelity scandals, calling his behavior “unacceptable.”

The 35-year-old, who married the former England player in 2008, has spoken out for the first time about Wayne’s affairs in an Amazon Prime documentary on his life and career.

A succession of drunken scandals have shattered the couple’s 13-year marriage, landing him in the doghouse.

“I knew groups Wayne was hanging around with – together with alcohol – not good. I forgive him but it wasn’t acceptable,” Coleen says in the new teaser.

Wayne, 35, then admitted: “People still look at me in a different way. For me it’s important that people remember me for who I am rather than what I’ve done.”

They began dating while they were adolescents and have been married since 2008. Kai, 11, Klay, 8, Kit, 5, and Cass, three, are their four sons.

After a night out in July, the ex-Manchester United icon was seen in a hotel with Snapchat models.

The teaser includes footage from the couple’s wedding day as well as footage of them at home with their children.

The couple’s relationship has been marred by a slew of controversies, including allegations of infidelity against the former England captain and the employment of prostitutes.

It was alleged in 2004 that the then-18-year-old player spent £140 for sex with 21-year-old prostitute Charlotte Glover.

He allegedly slept with Gina McCarrick, 37, and Patricia Tierney, 48, at the time.

Before being jailed for drink-driving while Coleen was pregnant with their fourth child in 2017, the sports star was said to have had a “kiss and cuddle” with lettings agent Laura Simpson.

Coleen responded to the news at the time, writing on social media, “No, I’m not taking Wayne back as he’s never left. Yes, it has been a [difficult] time, and yes, time was spent apart and I thought my marriage might have been at an end…. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on things, I often do.

“However please make an opinion based on true facts… Wayne doesn’t get portrayed for the person he is in the press, he has always had a hard time. I’m not going to list his good qualities as a person as I don’t think he deserves it at this time but one thing is that he is a brilliant dad. He’s made silly and selfish mistakes, some he’s learnt from, some obviously not.”

“It’s my decision… Do I love Wayne… yes I do. If I didn’t then I wouldn’t be trying to make it work,” she said at the end of the message.

“I know I would be fine on my own, with just me and my children, but I don’t want to live like that, I want to try and continue our marriage and live as a family, because that’s what I want to do. I’m not saying everything is fine and forgotten about, but we are as good as can be at this point, I’m not the type of person to put a show on and say we’re all loved-up… I’m just real.”

Heartbroken a fter Wayne’s adultery was revealed, Coleen moved out of the family home with her newborn baby Kai, but she eventually returned with him.

However, it was soon revealed that the forward was in a threesome with Helen Wood and Jenny.

Coleen forgave her husband once again, and Klay and Kit were born in 2013 and 2016.

She confessed in her memoirs that she had forgiven him since he had slept with prostitutes before their relationship got serious.

“The truth is, and I’ve never said this before, at that time in our relationship I’d never even slept with Wayne,” she said.

“I was only 16 and we weren’t having that kind of relationship at that stage. We used to meet at the chippy or the cinema.”

Meanwhile, throughout his almost two decades in the spotlight, photos of the now-retired player – who is presently the manager of EFL Championship team Derby County – drinking and partying with other women have been released to the press on many occasions.

Former teammates David Beckham, Gary Neville, and Rio Ferdinand are also interviewed in the new documentary.

Neville explains how Wayne “threw the odd punch, but never when someone didn’t deserve it.”

Wayne eventually apologized, stating, “Foolish as it now seems I did on occasions visit massage parlours and prostitutes. I now regret it deeply and hope people may understand that it was the sort of mistake you make when you are young and stupid. It was at a time when I was very young and immature.”
