Chris Pratt Went Fully Naked while filming Parks and Recreation Nude Scene, Angered NBC

It’s difficult to see someone being furious with Chris Pratt when he’s so talented, humorous, and all-around appealing. However, that appears to be possible – especially if you’re NBC, around the time Season 2 of Parks and Recreation was running. He got a serious lecture after stripping naked on an episode of Parks and Recreation.

The handsome actor, 35, recounted the daring moment in an interview with Graham Norton on Thursday, May 28, informing the UK TV presenter why he opted to bare it all. The incident occurred during the second season of the NBC sitcom, in which Pratt played lovable loser Andy Dwyer.

Chris Pratt is a fine actor, but he’s also a great humorous storyteller, and this 3-minute bit from the Graham Norton Show truly highlights that. In the video, the actor describes how the program was filming late one day during the second season. For the scene, Pratt’s Parks and Rec character, Andy, was meant to walk up to boss lady Leslie Knope’s house naked—a feat that is not especially realistic given that actors on network TV series wear underwear during nude sequences. However, every time lead actress Amy Poehler and Pratt shot the sequence, Pratt thought his co-star wasn’t reacting to him as if she had just seen his dick. So he removed his pantaloons and did the act naked.

“We were shooting a scene where my character turns up naked at my co-star’s door,” the Jurassic World star explains. “I was wearing skin-coloured underwear and I wasn’t getting quite the right reaction I was hoping for. It was late in the day so I decided to improvise and drop my trousers for the take. Her reaction was great and it’s the take they used!”

“Then I got a letter from NBC’s HR department that said, ‘There is a protocol about nude scenes. This is not a joke and you are being reprimanded and you can’t go around telling people about this like some kind of joke!’  And, in true Chris Pratt form, he’s shaking off the lecture in the best way possible: “I’ve framed the letter!”

Despite NBC’s reaction, the sequence was well-received when it aired: The A.V. Club praised the sequence as “by far the highlight of the series,” with critic Steve Heisler writing, “That scene was by far the highlight of the series, and demonstrates something key about season two of Parks and Rec: the characters have to keep us guessing.”

Despite the fact that he is a Hollywood celebrity these days, it turns out that he owes some of his acting skill to… The Only Way is Essex. He tells Norton that it’s all because of the successful reality program that he has an amazingly fine English accent.

“When I was filming Guardians of the Galaxy in the UK we watched a lot of garbage TV and my wife went crazy for TOWIE. She fell in love with the show and I started picking up the accent so now the only British one I can do is an Essex one.”

Parks and Recreation completed its seventh and final season just a few months ago with a surprisingly heartbreaking closing episode for a program that is generally renowned for making people laugh. However, NBC just released the whole series DVD package last week, so if you want to see Pratt’s huge naked moment in all its splendor, you can get it here. Or simply see a non-nude Chris Pratt in Jurassic World, which premieres in cinemas on June 15.
