Chloe Grace Moretz was body-shamed by male co-star
It’s no secret that celebrities are constantly subjected to body-shaming, and Chloe Grace Moretz is no exception.
The actress, who has always championed the importance of body positivity, recently opened up about a personal experience with body-shaming from one of her own co-stars.
In an interview with Variety, Moretz revealed that during her earlier years in the industry, a male co-star made an unflattering remark about her physique.
She shared that the actor, who was her love interest in the project, had told her, “I’d never date you in real life…Yeah, you’re too big for me.”
Moretz admitted that the comment made her cry on set, and she sought solace in her brother.

She also had to continue working with the unidentified co-star the following day, which made the situation even more difficult.
Despite the hurtful incident, Moretz learned an important lesson about certain people.
“You have to kind of forgive and not forget really, but it was just like wow.
It was jarring.
I look back on it and I was 15, which is really, really dark,” she said.
This particular experience only fueled Moretz’s passion for promoting body positivity.
She has often spoken about her own insecurities regarding her body, including her desire for plastic surgery when she was 16.
However, her mother’s refusal to allow her to undergo any procedures led Moretz to find power within her insecurities.
“I try to break barriers,” Moretz shared.
“I try not to post Instagrams where I Facetune my face and I wear a ton of makeup….And I want to break it down for young women so they understand that you’re not just ‘born’ like this.”
Moretz has also experienced a subtler form of attack on her character from another male co-star.
She shared that the actor made up stories about her to a filmmaker in an attempt to put her in her place.
“I’ve had a younger male lead ostracize me and bring up fake issues just to try and put me in my place, and make things up to the director…things that are crazy, things that I would never do, unprofessional things that would make no sense,” Moretz revealed.
“I’ve had an actor do that to me.
It’s crazy.
They have this inferiority issue, and I’m like, ‘You are completely equal to me, you are no different than me.’”
Despite these incidents, Moretz still has a positive outlook on the industry.
She acknowledged that there has been a shift towards more female filmmakers recently, but there is still a long way to go.
“We’re making big steps, but it’s a long way.
We’re nowhere near the top,” Moretz said.
Moretz’s experiences with body-shaming and sexism in the industry serve as a reminder of the importance of promoting body positivity and equality.
Her resilience and determination to break barriers have inspired many young women to embrace their own unique qualities and beauty.
