Charlie Sheen, known for his role in the American sitcom Two and a Half Men, has opened up about feeling betrayed and cheated on when he was snubbed from a movie role.

Sheen had a good relationship with director Oliver Stone, having worked together in the 80s movie Platoon.

Stone had promised Sheen another big role soon, which could have kickstarted his career.

However, things did not go that way as the role was given to Tom Cruise, which left Sheen feeling hurt and disappointed.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sheen revealed that Stone had promised him a role in Born on the Fourth of July.

Stone had even compared their relationship to Scorsese and De Niro.

But the role ended up going to Cruise, which was a blow to Sheen.

What hurt him more was that Stone did not break the news to him personally.

Sheen stated, “But here was a crucial point for both of us, and he couldn’t even call me and say, ‘I’ve changed my mind?’”

While Sheen did not feel hurt personally, he believed that he deserved the role. It could have been the start of an amazing journey for him in Hollywood.

He mentioned that his career may have been much different if he had gotten the role.

“Successful or not, it would have been totally different for sure,” he added.

According to Jim Emerson, a movie critic, Cruise was the right choice for the role.

At the time, Cruise was a much bigger name than Sheen, and to ensure the success of a movie, it was important that someone who was more well-liked by the audience take the lead role.

On the other hand, another critic named Caryn James thinks Sheen was just as much a big star at the time.

His role in Platoon was evidence that it was going to work out for him in the industry.

Sheen had played a major role in the success of Platoon, which left Stone thrilled.

The movie received critical acclaim and won several awards, including four Academy Awards.

Sheen’s portrayal of a soldier in the Vietnam War earned him a nomination for a Golden Globe Award.

The success of Platoon had given Sheen a good start in his acting career.

Born on the Fourth of July, which was released in 1989, was also a critical and commercial success.

The movie was nominated for eight Academy Awards and won two, including Best Director for Oliver Stone.
