Charlie Murphy, the 34-year-old actress famous for her role as Ann Gallagher in Happy Valley, revealed that she was left with bruises all over her body after filming the racy s** scenes in Netflix’s new thriller, Obsession.

In the series, Charlie plays Anna, who engages in a BDSM-fuelled relationship with her fiancé Jay’s father William, played by Richard Armitage, who becomes increasingly obsessed with her.

During an interview on the Reign with Josh Smith podcast, Charlie admitted that the hardwood floor on set was unforgiving and left her knees, toes, elbows, and bony areas covered with bruises.

Charlie explained that intimacy coordinators set up an atmosphere of consent and boundaries before the shooting starts.

They also use a touch map to identify where actors are comfortable with being touched.

“It can be the side of your arm, it can be anything.

We’re all just humans coming to set, and we don’t know what someone’s been through or what makes them uncomfortable,” she said.

The actress added that this process helped her feel in control of her performance.

She has, in the past, felt regret over some of the s** scenes she’s filmed due to a lack of control.

Charlie said, “I felt in control, and that’s empowering and fun.

We had a lot of fun on set.

We felt protected.”

Charlie further revealed that Richard Armitage suggested they “do as the French do and not be so scared or embarrassed by our bodies.”

The actress stated that she had a lot of fun on set because everyone felt relaxed.

She also admitted that she would have been nervous to film the show before the #MeToo movement.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Charlie said that quieter periods of her career have taught her more than when she’s working consistently.

“You get to really know yourself when you’re unemployed and when you’re getting all of those no’s in a row for tapes from meetings, it’s really hard,” she explained.
