‘Bridgerton’: It Took Months to Film a 3-Minute s** Scene

Netflix’s Bridgerton series, which premiered in 2020, is a fan favorite for its romance and drama.

The first season of the show followed Daphne Bridgerton and the Duke of Hastings as they fell in love, and the second season focused on Daphne’s brother, Anthony, and his own romantic pursuits.

However, it was a particular 3-minute s** scene that caught the attention of fans and took months to film.

Set in 1813, Bridgerton is a period drama that explores the sexism and misogyny of the era.

Despite the formality of the time, the show does not shy away from risque topics.

Actress Phoebe Dynevor, who plays Daphne Bridgerton, explained to Elle magazine that the show is “telling stories that are so relatable in the 21st century.”

Despite the show’s historical context, it features several intimate scenes that require a significant amount of time and effort from the cast and crew.

The s** scene in question, which takes place after Daphne and the Duke of Hastings’ wedding, was shot in various locations around the U.K. and required both inside and outside scenes, daytime and nighttime scenes, as well as scenes against walls, on flagstone floors, and in beds.

To add to the complexity of filming the scene, wigs, makeup, and modesty garments had to be kept in place and rearranged even during the months the couple was supposed to be caught up in the rain.

Despite all these challenges, the scene came together beautifully, set to an instrumental version of Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams.”

While things can get steamy in the show, the actors involved were always safe and protected on set.

The set was closed, with only necessary crew members and an intimacy coordinator present.

This allowed the actors to feel secure and go all out in their performances.

Dynevor explained that every touch and movement was choreographed, making the scenes even better as both she and Regé-Jean Page, who played the Duke, felt safe.

“It made the scenes almost better for it because we both felt safe and secure in what we were doing, and that’s when we could really go for it,” she said.

Page added that even though there were no lines to memorize, they still had a script to follow with their bodies, which allowed them to free themselves and do their job better as actors.

Bridgerton has become a cultural phenomenon since its release, with fans eagerly awaiting the next season.

The show’s popularity can be attributed to its ability to capture the complexities of life during this period, while also delivering steamy moments that keep viewers engaged.

In conclusion, while Bridgerton has garnered attention for its stunning period costumes, compelling storylines, and diverse cast, it’s the months-long filming of the 3-minute s** scene that truly showcases the dedication of the cast and crew.

From choreography to set design, every detail was carefully considered, resulting in a memorable moment for fans of the show.
