Brad Pitt and Gwyneth Paltrow’s toxic breakup
Gwyneth Paltrow called her and Brad Pitt’s first meeting as husband and wife in the 1995 film Se7en “love at second sight.”
The two were deeply in love.
Everyone on set soon realized they were a couple. “I am properly in love for the first time in my life… and I do not care if my former boyfriends read this,” Gwyneth said to the world.
The pair were completely devoted to one another.
Brad proposed after two years of dating in a moment he regarded as “one of the greatest” of his life in December 1997.

“I can’t wait, man … Walk down the aisle, wear the ring, kiss the bride. Oh, it’s going to be great,” Pitt stated, according to People.
However, the pair split up a year later, in 1997.
Paltrow blamed herself for the fact that her relationship with Pitt ended before they could exchange “I dos.”
The issue, according to Gwyneth, was that she developed cold feet, feeling that she was simply too young to settle down at the age of 25.
“I think I was a kid and I wasn’t ready. He was too good for me,” Paltrow said on The Howard Stern Show. “I honestly do think, I was too young and didn’t know what I was doing.
“I mean I was 22 when we met and it’s taken me until 40 to get my head out of my ass. You can’t make a decision when you’re 22 years old.”
Pitt was rumored to be ecstatic to marry Paltrow. As a result, he was disappointed when their wedding was called off.
Another insider claimed that he was second-guessing his decision to marry Paltrow. And that Pitt was the one who called off their wedding.
“Brad called it off. He changed his mind about a month ago. He got caught up in the frenzy of getting married, but he really didn’t want to,” the person said, adding, “he hasn’t had a second to think about what’s going on.”
Rumors started circulating that she had cheated with her Sliding Doors co-star John Hannah.
“My kind of internal stuff really tripped up that whole relationship and I felt really responsible and also like I was the architect of my own misery and I just made a big mess out of it,” she said.
And Jean Black, Brad’s longtime friend, said there were a number of warning signs.
“I think there were a lot of things that made Brad feel like Gwyneth wasn’t ready for the marriage,” she explained.
Nonetheless, after the split, Gwyneth was so upset that she refused to work and almost lost out on her Oscar-winning part in Shakespeare In Love.
Vanity Fair quoted her as saying: “It really changed my life. When we split up, something changed permanently in me. My heart sort of broke that day, and it will never be the same.”
She also expressed how much she enjoyed her time with Pitt. She did, however, state that their connection was unhealthy.
“I loved every second of it, but it wasn’t healthy. I wouldn’t change anything. Even the things I hate most about myself for what happened — the darkest moment of it — I wouldn’t change. Because it’s made me what I am.”
Brad met Jennifer Aniston the next year, while Gwyneth met Ben Affleck before marrying Coldplay’s Chris Martin in 2003.
