Billie Eilish claims she would ‘rather die’ than not have kids

The 20-year-old Billie Eilish has spoken out about her desire to have children in the future, saying that she would “rather die” that not have any.

The “Happier Than Ever” singer spoke candidly with Sunday Times Magazine about her desire to start a family.

She admitted to Sunday Times Magazine that she “dreads” the idea of having children but that that “[I would] rather die [than not have kids] regardless… I need them.”

“The older I get, the more I experience things, I just think, ‘Ugh, what am I going to do when my kid thinks that this is the right thing to do and I’m, like, “No, it’s not!”‘ And they won’t listen to me,” she said.

Eilish, along with her brother and frequent partner Finneas, attended home school as children and “graduated” at the age of 15 after passing a high school equivalency test.

However, the Oscar winner admitted that in light of all the “scary” school shootings in America, she is hesitant to become a parent right now.

“Why is it OK to be scared to go to school?” she asked, pointing to the Uvalde, Texas, shooting that happened last month. “You go to school and be prepared for a life-changing traumatic experience or dying. What? Who? Where is the logic there?”

Billie can identify with being an anxious child, remembering how she slept in her parents’ bed until she was 11 years old due to, among other things, a fear of the dark.

The 20-year-old admitted, “I had crippling, life-changing separation anxiety, I couldn’t be away from my parents,” the 20-year-old revealed. “I was worried about what would happen to them, I was worried about what would happen to me, I was worried about being forgotten,” she said.

“I couldn’t sleep by myself,” she continued. “If I woke up and my parents weren’t in the bed and the lights were off, I would scream until they came to the door. And I couldn’t step off the bed in the dark because I was certain that there were scorpions crawling all over the floor.”

During an interview, the Grammy-winning singer discussed what it’s like to work with her family.

Eilish’s mother Maggie oversees the environmental aspect of her live performances in addition to collaborating with her brother Finneas.

“I definitely find my mom annoying but that’s because she’s my mom and everyone’s mom is annoying,” Eilish said. “But I love her, she is like a book, she knows everything, and I’m so grateful because I don’t know s—t about s—t.”

“She’s an actual genius about the environment. Brands aren’t thinking about it, companies aren’t thinking about it, but my mom is.”

After releasing her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go, Eilish enjoyed tremendous success, but recently admitted she developed depression as a result of living in the spotlight.

She said: “I really didn’t love [my success] for a couple of years” in a Telekom Electronic Beat podcast episode.”

The Los Angeles native continued by saying that she was initially hesitant to embrace her new role as a hitmaker.

“I was very young and very depressed the first few years of my career and didn’t even know if I wanted anything that I had,” she recalled.

Since then, Eilish has undergone a number of behind-the-scenes adjustments, and her entire perspective on life has changed.

She continued: ‘I was kind of in this zone of like, I don’t want to be here. Stupid little kid and I’ve made changes.’

The performer pointed out that she had loosened during the last several years.

‘Then we got a kind of less brutal touring schedule and we got more people and we didn’t have to do it all ourselves any more. And it just became really really enjoyable,’ she remarked.

The Grammy-winning singer will perform at this week’s Glastonbury festival, which returns to Worthy Farm for the first time since 2019, becoming the event’s youngest-ever solo headliner.

Paul McCartney, Kendrick Lamar, and Eilish will perform on the Pyramid Stage together on June 24 at 10:15 p.m. for a 90-minute performance.

Eilish just made history by performing as Coachella’s youngest headlining artist.
