Beyonce Calls Fake Pregnancy Rumors ‘So Stupid’
When Beyonce was pregnant with her daughter Blue Ivy Carter, whispers began to circulate that she had 1) faked her pregnancy with a prosthetic tummy and 2) used a surrogate to bear the kid.
Beyoncé has commented on the claims, telling People, “That was crazy. It wasn’t hurtful, it was just crazy. [I thought] ‘Where did they come up with this?'”
Beyoncé said the rumour emerged when she was featured on an Australian TV show and her baby bulge appeared to shrink when she sat down.
“It was a fabric that folded—does fabric not fold?,” Beyoncé said. “Oh my gosh, so stupid.”

The chitchat irritated more than just Beyoncé. In the interview, her mother also addressed the charges, saying, “I thought it was very unfair and very cruel that someone would think that someone would be that diabolical to keep up a charade like that for nine months. As a mother, it was painful for me to hear the crazy rumors. And I even had people ask me, which was so ridiculous.”
Beyoncé said that “love and well wishes” from fans all across the world helped her get over it.
Queen B addressed not just the baby bump scandal, but also her devotion to being sexy, even at nine months, in the magazine, which is now available. “I committed to the end and wore my kitten heels. It makes me laugh thinking about it,” she said. “But after many hours of labor, I didn’t care how I looked. It was all about the miracle that God gave me — the opportunity to deliver a human being.”
Blue Ivy was born on January 7. Beyoncé has since blended motherhood and profession, with performances in Atlantic City this month, new albums on the way, a digital family journal on Tumblr, and mother-daughter strolls in New York City.
