Anthony Rapp Sues Kevin Spacey for alleged sexual assault in 1980s

Kevin Spacey is being sued by Anthony Rapp and another man known as C.D. for alleged sexual assault. The alleged incidents occurred in the 1980s, when the plaintiffs were around 14 years old.

The lawsuit, which was filed in Manhattan state court, pertains to the same alleged encounter that Rapp initially detailed in an October 2017 BuzzFeed interview, which led to Spacey’s downfall in Hollywood.

Rapp met Spacey in 1986 while the latter was acting in the Broadway show Precious Sons, according to court filings. Rapp was invited to a party at Spacey’s Manhattan residence. Spacey allegedly made forceful and unwelcome sexual advances on Rapp, including grasping his buttocks, physically lifting him onto a bed, and laying down on top of his body, according to Rapp. Rapp claims he “ran into the bathroom of defendant’s apartment” because he was “fearing for his safety.” The boy departed Spacey’s house after hiding there for a few minutes.

Spacey is accused of assault, violence, and intentional infliction of emotional distress against Rapp, according to the lawsuit.

“Anthony Rapp sustained psychological injuries, including but not limited to, severe emotional distress, humiliation, fright, anger, depression and anxiety; a severe shock to his nervous system; and has been caused to suffer mental anguish, emotional and psychological damage as a result thereof, and, upon information and belief, some or all of these injuries are of a permanent and lasting nature; and plaintiff, Anthony Rapp, has been forced to abstain from the duties of his vocation, and has and/or will become obligated to expend sums of money for medical expenses,” the lawsuit says.

This story sounds a lot like the one told by C.D., the unnamed plaintiff. C.D. purportedly attended a Spacey acting class in Westchester County, New York, when he was 12 years old in 1981. Two years later, they reconnected by coincidence, and Spacey invited the youngster back to his flat.

In the first of a few sexual meetings with Spacey, C.D. claims to have conducted oral and anal intercourse on him. Spacey “attempted to sodomize the plaintiff” at their last encounter. C.D. “resisted and said ‘No’ multiple times,” according to court filings. ” C.D. broke free and “fled the defendant’s apartment” when Spacey “continued to attempt to anally sodomize the infant plaintiff.”

C.D. also claims that Spacey’s alleged assault caused him psychological trauma.

Unspecified damages are sought in the complaint.

Spacey was fired from “House of Cards” after Rapp’s original claim, which was part of the #MeToo movement against sexual misconduct, and his sequences in the film “All the Money in the World” were re-shot with actor Christopher Plummer.

Spacey apologized to Rapp and came out as homosexual in the same statement when the allegations against him first surfaced three years ago. GLAAD and the LGBTQ community slammed the move. “If I did behave as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior,” Spacey said, adding that he did not recall the incident with Rapp.

Spacey has been involved in various legal matters since the allegations first surfaced. Prosecutors in Los Angeles dismissed a sexual battery case in October because the accuser had died.

Prosecutors in Massachusetts abandoned a case against Spacey in July when the 18-year-old man accused of touching him declined to testify.
