Angelina Jolie, 40, had the difficult challenge of not only directing but also appearing in her new picture By The Sea, in which her husband Brad Pitt, 51, also features. They portray a couple whose marriage is on the rocks, yet they still had to shoot hot love scenes.

And, according to Angelina Jolie Pitt, having film s-x with husband Brad for By The Sea was “the strangest thing in the world” – albeit, as the writer and director, she had no one but herself to blame.

“Love scenes are strange anyway, but when you’re doing a love scene with a person that you really have s-x with? The only way to get through it was for us to all talk about the absurdity of it and make sure no one was feeling awkward,” she told Entertainment Weekly.

“It’s the strangest thing in the world to be lying n-ked in a bathtub with an iPad that’s showing you the shot outside, while your husband is at the door and you’re directing him to come in and make love to you,” she said. “[And] in front of a bunch of other men with cameras.”

While Jolie has been in countless love scenes in her previous films, she has stated that this one is “obviously different” and that she hopes that “every woman could have this experience.”

And it wasn’t only Jolie who struggled to get frisky in front of a camera crew; Brad, 51, was as defensive of his wife, refusing to allow anybody see her walking about without her clothes on.

“I couldn’t get out of the bathtub to get to the monitor because the director is naked. We’re artists and want to be free, but Brad – it’s his wife. He was on towel duty. He’d hold the towel over me,” she explained.

The Golden Globe winner also spoke candidly about her insecurity over her naked body after undergoing a double mastectomy. Regardless of her health issues, she stated she is glad she completed it.

“The surgeries still allow you to be a woman,” she explained. She thought that by showing the scenes, other women with body concerns would be able to experience and see what she was feeling.

The movie is a reflection on mourning, inspired in part by the death of her own mother in 2007.

There have also been recent speculations concerning the couple’s relationship. Despite fight sequences in their latest film ‘By The Sea,’ Jolie maintains their relationship is “very stable.”

“I’m counting on the audience to know that if it was close to us at all, we could never make this film – it’s because we’re actually very stable and these aren’t our issues,” Jolie stated in a joint interview with Pitt on the TV show “Today,” according to aceshowbiz.com.

“By The Sea,” the couple’s film, will be released in the United States on November 13th.
