Amanda Seyfried has spoken out about feeling pressured to do n/de scenes at the age of 19 and her regret that intimacy coordinators were not available to her at the time.

Intimacy coordinators are professionals who help stage s– scenes and offer protection to those performing them.

Seyfried said, “Being 19, walking around without my underwear on – like, are you kidding me? How did I let that happen? Oh, I know why: I was 19 and I didn’t want to upset anybody, and I wanted to keep my job. That’s why.”

Seyfried, who recently received two Emmy nominations for her portrayal of Elizabeth Holmes in The Dropout, has previously expressed her discomfort with being s–ualized in her early career.

She spoke to Marie Claire in May and said, “I was 18 years old. It was just gross.”

She was referring to how boys would come up to her after the release of Mean Girls and ask if she could predict the weather with her breasts, as her character Karen had claimed.

Sean Bean, a British actor, recently questioned the necessity of intimacy coordinators, claiming that they “inhibit” his performances and “spoil the spontaneity” of s– scenes.

This led to backlash from other actors, including Rachel Zegler, who said that intimacy coordinators “establish an environment of safety for actors” and that spontaneity in intimate scenes can be unsafe.

She recalled having a positive experience with an intimacy coordinator as a newcomer on the West Side Story set.

Jameela Jamil tweeted that “nobody wants an impromptu grope,” while Lena Hall, Bean’s Snowpiercer co-star, said that she was “comfortable” with Bean, but that intimacy coordinators were still a “welcome addition to the set.”

Philippa Childs, the head of British broadcast union Bectu, said that Bean’s “disappointing” comments failed to acknowledge “his position of privilege and the vulnerabilities and challenges many in the industry, particularly young and less experienced actors, may face as they engage in shooting intimate scenes.”

Intimacy coordinators have been gaining popularity in recent years as a way to ensure the safety and comfort of actors during s– scenes.

They work with the actors, directors and crew to choreograph the scene and ensure that everyone involved is on the same page.

They also make sure that the actors are aware of what they are consenting to and that they have the right to stop the scene at any time if they feel uncomfortable.
