Actress Sophia Bush fought her boss over underwear scenes

Sophia Bush, best known for her role as Brooke Davis on the popular TV show ‘One Tree Hill’, has recently opened up about her on-set disagreements with her boss during her appearance on Ashley Graham’s Pretty Big Deal podcast.

The 37-year-old actress revealed that she had numerous clashes with her boss and the writers, particularly over scenes that required her to portray her teenage character in her underwear.

Bush did not comply with these requests without resistance.

She explained that she was not aware of the power dynamics at the time, but looking back, she realizes the inappropriateness of the situation.

She recalled telling her boss to stop writing such scenes, as they were not appropriate for a 16-year-old girl to be seeking validation in that manner.

The boss’s shocking response, according to Bush, was to point out her physical attributes as the reason for such scenes.

In defiance, Bush appeared on set in a turtleneck for the next episode, threatening to continue dressing that way if the inappropriate scenes did not cease.

At the time, she was not aware of her own bravery in standing up against the inappropriate behavior.

This is not the first instance of Bush speaking out about the misconduct she experienced on the set of ‘One Tree Hill’.

In November 2017, she and 17 other former female cast and crew members accused the show’s creator, Mark Schwahn, of sexual harassment.

Schwahn has never addressed these allegations, and in December 2017, he was removed from his position as showrunner of E!’s ‘The Royals’ after similar accusations emerged.

Bush also discussed her departure from the TV show ‘Chicago P.D.’, which she attributed to the toxic environment and her own personal “#MeToo hell” on set.

She left the show at the end of season four, despite having signed a 6-year contract, because the on-set conflicts made it impossible for her to continue working there.

Her exit took place before the #MeToo movement gained momentum following the Harvey Weinstein scandal.

During the podcast, Bush highlighted the importance of men being better advocates and allies for women in the workplace.

She revealed that some male colleagues from ‘Chicago P.D.’ have expressed irritation over her openness about her experiences.

Bush called for men to support women by speaking up in the moment and condemning inappropriate behavior.

Despite the prominence of the #MeToo movement, Bush believes that much has not changed.

She emphasized the need to punish perpetrators rather than victims and suggested that men taking a stand against inappropriate behavior would make a significant difference in the workplace.
