Actress hurt her neck during intense s-x scene

Actress Diane Lane has revealed that she suffered an injury on the set of the 2002 film Unfaithful, during the filming of a sex scene.

Lane played Connie, a suburban New Yorker who cheats on her husband (Richard Gere) with a Frenchman, Paul, played by Olivier Martinez.

The film received critical acclaim and Lane was nominated for an Academy Award for her role.

During a 2015 interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Lane revealed that the injury occurred during the filming of the first sexual encounter between her character and Paul.

The scene plays in flashback as Connie cries while riding the Metro North back to her home where she has a young son with Edward (Gere).

“Olivier was giving his all and he was giving me all of his body weight,” Lane explained.

“And the camera had to see me…what do you need to see while you’re accomplishing what needs to be accomplished?

“So here we are, I’m trying to let the camera see me, and I’m holding him, and I have to come up and kiss him at the same time.

“I mean, we’ve must’ve done 50 takes. So my neck finally went out. And I didn’t know it till the next day.”

The injury caused Lane’s neck to herniate and limited her physical capabilities for the rest of the shoot. “There’s one scene you see me in the film… I’m laying down on the bed,” she recalled.

“I’m just doing the scene laying down because that’s all I could do at that point. I could just lay down and lean over and talk to him and say the lines [laughs].”

“And at that point, they took me to the hospital and got me an MRI.”

Despite the injury, Lane continued with the production, but it proved costly for her physically. “I’m still getting work done for that,” she laughed.

Unfaithful was directed by Adrian Lyne and received mixed reviews from critics.

However, Lane’s performance was highly praised, with The New Yorker’s David Denby describing it as “magnificent”.

The film explores themes of infidelity and its consequences and was based on the French film La Femme Infidèle (1969).

Lane has had a successful career in Hollywood, with roles in films such as The Outsiders, Under the Tuscan Sun, and Justice League.

She has also had a number of television roles, including in the popular drama House of Cards.

Despite the success of Unfaithful, Lane has spoken in the past about the challenges of filming intimate scenes.

In a 2018 interview with The Guardian, she said:

“It’s always been difficult for me, but then, you know, I’m an actor, I have to act. And sometimes those things are required.”

Lane has also been an advocate for women in Hollywood and has spoken out about issues such as equal pay and representation.

In a 2018 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she said: “I think that women are still fighting for the same rights and opportunities that men have.”

“And I think that it’s a conversation that needs to continue until we have equality.”
