Actress ‘got drunk before sleepin with Daniel Craig’
Anne Reid reveals that she had to get drunk to film a s** scene with James Bond star, Daniel Craig.
The actress who played Valerie Barlow in Coronation Street and starred in the hit drama Last Tango In Halifax, admitted that she was terrified at the prospect of filming s** scenes with Craig for the 2003 film, The Mother.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, Anne Reid revealed that she almost quit over her fears of taking her clothes off in front of Craig.
At the time, Anne Reid was 68 years old and recalls the night before filming the s** scene, she drank a lot of alcohol alone in her flat.
After drinking, she stripped down and stood in front of a mirror thinking about the next day’s shoot.

Overcome with fear and doubt, she burst into tears, thinking she could not go ahead with the scene.
She called her son and wept as she expressed her inhibitions and fears.
Her son then encouraged her to go for it and not to be inhibited.
Although it was scary, Anne Reid managed to pull herself together and shoot the scene.
The experience transformed her career, leading to her winning a role in Last Tango In Halifax and the 2010 remake of Upstairs Downstairs.
In the interview, Anne Reid also shared her love for music and her song choices, which included Charles Trenet’s La Mer.
