According to TMZ, Fred Willard was jailed for “lewd conduct” after being caught pants down in a movie theater on Wednesday evening.

According to law enforcement authorities, undercover vice investigators from the Los Angeles Police Department went to the Tiki Theater in Hollywood yesterday night and found the 78-year-old “Anchorman” star watching the film with his p-nis exposed and in his hand.

Willard, who has been married to Mary for 40 years, was subsequently cited and a mug shot was taken, according to police, who also stated that he was cooperative with investigators.

Willard was arrested and booked for obscene behavior at 8:45 p.m., according to our sources.

A short time later, he was freed from prison.

Willard’s lawyer, Paul Takakjian of Los Angeles, contested the basis for the arrest but refused to disclose information.

“With all due respect to the individual officer, our belief is that Fred did nothing in any violation of any law,” Takakjian said in a statement. “We will be working vigorously to clear his name in this matter.”

Willard is scheduled to appear in court at a later date, according to police.

Kazi Jafor, the theater’s manager, said he witnessed the arrest.

“That guy was frightened,” Jafor said, adding that there are guidelines placed on the entrance instructing visitors on how to act.

According to TMZ, LAPD police were performing a normal inspection that included a ‘random walk-through’ of the property, not a raid.

Willard has acted in a number of films and television series, including Harold and Kumar. White Castle, Anchorman, Best in Show, For Your Consideration, American Wedding, and Everybody Loves Raymond.

Willard isn’t the first – and definitely won’t be the last – star to find himself in this predicament.
