Royal Carriage Ride: The Young Royals Set to Join the Coronation Procession

In an exciting development for royal watchers, the children of Kate Middleton and Prince William are slated to ride in a carriage behind King Charles and Queen Camilla after the coronation ceremony on May 6.

Reports indicate that Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis will make a public appearance as they journey back to Buckingham Palace following their grandfather’s crowning.

According to The Times, the three young royals will join their parents in a horse-drawn carriage, leaving Westminster Abbey after the historic event.

While there’s been buzz about Prince George, who is just nine years old, possibly having a special role during the service as second-in-line to the throne, no official word has come from the palace about the children’s involvement.

People magazine notes that the Prince and Princess of Wales are still mulling over what roles, if any, their children will play during this momentous occasion.

The details regarding the carriage procession emerged from a rehearsal document reviewed by The Times, which outlines the day’s events.

As per the plans, King Charles, now 74, and Queen Camilla will lead the procession, followed closely by William, Kate, and their three children.

They will travel in the Gold State Coach, a vehicle famously described by the late Queen Elizabeth as a “bone-shakingly horrible ride” during her own coronation celebrations in 1953.

The procession will also feature other senior royals, including Princess Anne and her husband, Vice-Admiral Sir Tim Lawrence, along with the new Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Prince Edward and Sophie.

Additionally, the late Queen Elizabeth’s cousins, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent, and Princess Alexandra, will be part of the historic event.

After the procession, the royal family will gather at Buckingham Palace, where some members are expected to make an appearance on the iconic balcony.

This moment will allow them to greet and acknowledge the crowds gathered in the Mall below, celebrating the new reign.

Interestingly, there’s a precedent for both Prince George and Princess Charlotte to participate in such grand occasions.

They were seen during the funeral of their great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, in September.

However, Prince Louis, at just four years old, did not make a public appearance on that somber day.

The royal children have had their share of experience in public events, having appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony twice during Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations last June.

The trio also made their carriage ride debut during Trooping the Colour, marking the monarch’s annual public birthday celebration.

Following the coronation, festivities will continue with a concert at Windsor Castle the next day.

Additionally, street parties and community gatherings will take place under the Big Lunch initiative throughout the weekend, encouraging public celebration.

On the following Monday, the community spirit will carry on as people are invited to volunteer locally as part of the Big Help Out project.

This weekend promises to be filled with royal splendor and community engagement, making it a memorable occasion for all involved.
