Royal Portraits Unveiled: A Glimpse into a Century of Royal Family Moments

In an exciting development, Kate Middleton is about to be honored in a truly remarkable way.

The King’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace is set to unveil a stunning collection of royal portraits that have never been seen before.

This exhibition marks a significant milestone as it showcases personal photographs from the royal family’s extensive archive, spanning an impressive 100 years of royal photography.

The newly renamed King’s Gallery will host this historic exhibition, featuring over 150 objects that capture royal life from the 1920s to the present day.

Curator Alessandro Nassini shared insights with GB News, highlighting the diverse range of images on display.

He noted that visitors will experience a transition from very private family moments to the grandeur of King Charles III’s coronation portraits.

Among the treasures showcased are intimate family photos, including a touching image of four royal mothers—Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Margaret, Princess Alexandra, and the Duchess of Kent—each cradling their newborns.

This unique photograph is complemented by a private handwritten letter from Princess Margaret to her sister, Queen Elizabeth II, adding a personal touch to the exhibition.

The collection also features a more relaxed engagement photo of the Prince and Princess of Wales, alongside a cherished snapshot from their wedding day.

These images provide a heartfelt glimpse into the lives of the royals, revealing their human side beyond the public persona.

Adding to the intrigue, the exhibition includes never-before-seen proofs sent to the royal family for their selection of favorite images.

This offers a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at how iconic royal portraits come to life.

One striking portrait of the Princess bears a notable resemblance to Franz Xaver Winterhalter’s famous 1864 painting of Alexandra, Princess of Wales, which will be displayed nearby.

In a commendable move towards inclusivity, the Royal Collection Trust (RCT) is now offering one-tonne gallery tickets to individuals receiving universal credits or other benefits.
