Jane Fonda, a two-time Academy Award winner and one of Hollywood’s most well-known stars in the 1960s and today, was pressured into participating in three* somes and even foursomes by her late husband, Roger Vadim.

According to the Daily Mail, the attractive actress, who hails from a powerful film family, had plenty of suitors, but she was fascinated by the French filmmaker after they met at a New Year’s Eve costume gala in Paris’s Bois de Boulogne.

Vadim was still married to Brigitte Bardot, who was only 18 years old at the time. Vadim was a terrific seducer, according to Fonda, and their affair, marriage, and s-xual exploits were the talk of the town, with people wanting to know who was in their bedrooms. The who’s who of politics, the arts, and, of course, the silver film were among those.

The 82-year-old was born to Henry Fonda and Francis Seymour and lost her mother when she was only 12 years old. Francis was Henry’s second wife, and he married three more times after that. Jane was reported in the Daily Mail as saying, “Before my mother’s death I was feisty, I was ambitious, I was brave. Suddenly I was nothing to myself. You could have put what was left of me into a thimble.”

Her shattered self-esteem was exacerbated by her strained relationship with her movie star father. He was unable to express any emotion, let alone commend or support her. “I never had a real, long conversation with my dad in my entire life,” she said.

The actress, who lost her mother when she was 12, believed she had met a companion who would heal her wounded self-esteem. Her expectations were dashed just a few months into the marriage.

She was the one who was insecure, and she was willing to immediately fulfill any of Vadim’s s-xual dreams. She would even go out of her way to find ladies for him and ask close friends if they wanted to join them in their bedroom. “He hired call girls to join us in bed. And, what is worse, I threw myself into the whole charade,” wrote Fonda in her autobiography, My Life So Far. She added, “I had never even thought about a three* some but I treated it as if it was the most normal thing on earth. So three* somes became foursomes – always girls. I convinced myself that I enjoyed it. We reached a point when I would go and do the soliciting. Always discreetly, of course, through a high-class agency.”

She wrote further, “Yet I was supposed to be clever and my own woman. I was anything but.” Now at 82, Fonda said she sometimes can imagine she did some of these things. She wrote, “Had any of this leaked out at the time the consequences could have been disastrous. Even now, I can’t believe I took the risks. The personal feeling of having no self-worth was bad enough.” The feeling of anxiety and unhappiness was there even before marriage. Recalling her wedding day in 1965, she wrote that she had been “feeling like a zombie and wondering: ‘I don’t know why I’m doing this.'” Later in the day, she had locked herself in a bathroom, rang a former lover, and asked him while sobbing, “I’m married. Now what do I do?” He replied, ‘I haven’t the faintest idea’ and hung up.” But from the beginning, Vadim made it clear it was going to be an open marriage.

The insecure actress consented to go along with it, but she felt “less than perfect” as a result. According to the Evening Standard, she adds in the book, “For me with Roger Vadim, that meant bringing other women into our bed. It seems shocking that I did that, but I managed to convince myself that it was fine, that I wanted to, even though it was killing my heart.”

Even on the day of their wedding in 1965, she felt a sense of foreboding. “I’m feeling like a zombie,” she continued, “and I’m wondering why I’m doing this.” She eventually became entangled in Vadim’s life, which included gambling debt. She was not only paying his creditors, but she was also fulfilling his s-xual dreams. Even now, in 2016, the actress is taken aback by the things she did for him. “Even now, I can’t believe I took the risks. The personal feeling of having no self-worth was bad enough,” she explained. At the very least, she now understands why she acted the way she did.

The 82-year-old wrote in her memoir that her husband had brought home a prostitute from Paris. She “threw” herself into the “three* some with the skill and enthusiasm of the actress” she was without any consideration. Fonda could not picture her life without Vadim, even if the relationship had begun to take its toll on her. “He validated me. I couldn’t conceive of leaving him,” Fonda wrote. According to the Evening Standard, she said, “I ceased eating except for crusts from his bread and rinds from his camembert.”

For years, rumors regarding the couple’s s-xual behavior have fueled Hollywood conjecture. Miss Fonda attributes her eating disorders to her association with Vadim for the majority of her life.

Vadim’s behavior, she says, mirrored that of her father, Henry Fonda, when she was a youngster.

Susan Blanchard, Susan’s previous stepmother, was once invited into the bedroom with her new husband, actor Michael Wager. They said no. Brooke Hayward, a childhood friend, and her actor husband, Dennis Hopper, were also invited. According to Hayward, they said yes “for just the hell of it.” Fonda eventually divorced Vadim in 1973 after an eight-year marriage and a daughter together. Fonda attended Vadim’s burial in 2000, when he died of cancer at the age of 72.

She is delighted that she is no longer a target of desire now that she is in her late years. “Men don’t look at me anymore. I’ve been looked at a lot in my life, so now I can be anonymous. It is something of a relief,” she stated, according to the Express UK.
