‘Smallville’ actress admits to s-x trafficking crimes, pleads guilty

TV actress Allison Mack pleaded guilty to allegations she was involved in a conspiracy to turn women into s-x slaves for the spiritual head of a cult-like upstate New York organization on the same day that jury selection for a federal trial in the case began.

Mack’s plea, which was entered Monday, was confirmed by John Marzulli, Public Information Officer for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.

Mack, 36, pleaded guilty to racketeering and conspiracy charges before U.S. District Judge Nicholas Garaufis in federal court in Brooklyn, New York, saying that she threatened to expose harmful information about the two unnamed women if they did not perform services.

Mack was charged with sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy, and conspiracy to conduct forced labor in April of 2018. She is well known for her role as Chloe Sullivan on “Smallville.” She earlier pled not guilty to the allegations, and faces 15 years to life in jail. Mack had previously been in talks with authorities about a plea deal, according to Variety.

“As alleged in the indictment, Allison Mack recruited women to join what was purported to be a female mentorship group that was, in fact, created and led by Keith Raniere,” said US Attorney Richard P. Donoghue in a statement following Mack’s arrest last year. “The victims were then exploited, both sexually and for their labor, to the defendants’ benefit. This Office and our law enforcement partners are committed to prosecuting predators who victimize others through s-x trafficking and forced labor.”

Mack, 36, sobbed as she accepted her crimes and apologized to the women who were allegedly victimized by Keith Raniere and the ostensibly self-help group NXIVM, according to prosecutors.

On the surface, Nxivm appeared to offer self-help workshops, but prosecutors claim that the organization had a secret sub-group known as DOS, an acronym for a Latin word that loosely translates to “Lord/Master of the Obedient Female Companions.” The gang was said to be made up of female “slaves” who were led by “masters,” and the ladies were often branded with Raniere’s initials.

Mack said she joined the organization a decade ago to find her purpose in life, followed by self-described spiritual guide Raniere.

“Through it all, I believed that Keith Raniere’s intentions were to help people,” she said. “I was wrong. I now realize that I and others engaged in criminal conduct.”

Mack is accused of forcing two of her “slaves” to have s*x with Raniere in exchange for monetary compensation.

Raniere, 58, was arrested in March 2018 on allegations of s*x trafficking and is being jailed without bail. The following month, Mack was arrested.

Days after her arrest last year, Mack was released on a $5 million bond.

“I know I can and will be a better person,” Mack stated after months of contemplation since her arrest.

Nancy Salzman and her daughter Lauren Salzman, two additional members of the group, recently entered guilty pleas.
