Reese Witherspoon’s daughter hates her s-x scenes
The racy moments in Reese Witherspoon’s latest film embarrassed her teenage daughter.
The 38-year-old actress revealed that her 15-year-old daughter, Ava Phillippe, was left red-faced after seeing her mother in some s-xually graphic sequences in her film Wild.
“There’s a lot of explicit s-x scenes in this movie and she’s like, ‘Oh no!'” Reese said during the Mavericks talk on Sunday night at the Toronto Film Festival.
“Ava’s 15 and there are parts in the film that I had to explain to her. I told her, ‘I’m naked in the movie…’ and she was like, ‘Mom, that’s so weird!” Witherspoon recently told New Magazine. “I said, ‘I had to be brave Ava, and I couldn’t just tell the parts I was comfortable with, because Cheryl was brave to tell her whole story, so I had to tell even the parts that I was scared to do.'”
The actress also said that she drew inspiration for her performance in the film from Girls actor and writer Lena Dunham. The film follows Cheryl Strayed (Witherspoon) as she rebounds from an emotional disaster.

“I think Lena’s changing cultural attitudes with her honestly and willingness to bare all,” Reese said.
Young ladies who are not connected to the actor, on the other hand, will appreciate the film’s powerful message about owning one’s s-xuality and fighting feelings of shame.
She went on to say: “It’s such an important message about female s-xuality.
“We kissed that guy or we had s-x with that dude in college. We’re totally ashamed of so many things. I think this movie says, ‘That’s OK. Maybe I was meant to sleep with all those guys. Maybe I wanted to. Maybe if I could go back and do it all again, I’d do the same thing.’
“It’s a total liberation, especially for young women.”
Witherspoon discussed her childhood as the daughter of a doctor father and a nurse mother, and how she believed she was destined to be a doctor until she read a casting notice for Robert Mulligan’s The Man in the Moon when she was 14 years old. She got the part, which led to her big performance as Tracy Flick in Alexander Payne’s Election, which she described as a “huge flop.”
“Election cost $10 million and made $11 million,” Witherspoon said. “It was actually a huge flop. A critical success but a huge flop.”
Wild will be released in theaters on January 16, 2015.
