Macbeth’s Florence Pugh bares all as she refuses to lose weight for roles

Florence Pugh is one of the hottest English actors, and she’s stated that she’s fully in charge of her career and refuses to lose weight for parts, despite being asked to be ‘skinny’ by directors.

In William Oldroyd’s 2017 Lady Macbeth, the star flaunted her incredible body as she bared it all for the drama.

The actress, who is up for the EE Rising Star Award at this year’s BAFTAs, told The Sun that she will never succumb to such standards because she only wants to play ‘interesting women who spark conversation.’

In the light of Hollywood’s latest sexual assault crisis, Florence admitted that she was once requested to cut weight for a part, but she flatly refused.

“I’ve been told to be skinny before – it’s already happened,” Florence explained, “but it’s up to you to listen or say no.”

“I’m not listening. It shapes who you want to be and what character you want to play. I’m looking for characters – interesting women that spark conversation.”

The 22-year-old actress from Oxford also said that she will continue to strip off for jobs, as she believes it is “nothing” when it comes to the art of acting.

She said that viewing her n*de and s-x scenes back gave her a sense of satisfaction.

“It’s down to the person and what they’re willing to do,” she concluded.

“It’s obvious when reading a script whether it’s gratuitous or not, or whether you’re just seeing a nipple because you’re seeing a nipple, or whether she’s getting out of bed that morning n-ked.

“A majority of people I know get out of bed naked so it’s up to you to gauge.

“For me, I really appreciate seeing real bodies on screen, that variation, not the same frames we saw for the majority of our upbringing making us feel like was have to look that way.”

“For me to take my clothes off is nothing.”

Florence plays Katharine Lester, who is unhappy in her loveless marriage, prompting her to seek an affair with Sebastian, a laborer portrayed by Cosmo Jarvis.

Florence, who was born in Oxford, received critical acclaim for her performance in the film, which no doubt helped her earn a BAFTA nomination on Thursday.

She’ll be following in the footsteps of Tom Hardy, Kristen Stewart, James McAvoy, Shia LeBouf, and John Boyega, who have all been in past Rising Stars films.

Other actors include Josh O’Connor, 27, Tessa Thompson, 34, Daniel Kaluuya, 28, and Oscar hopeful Timothee Chalamet, 22.
