Katie Holmes Talks Forgetting Her lines onstage
Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise’s ex-wife, appeared on the Late Show just three days after David Letterman had him on the show, to promote her play Dead Accounts.
She looked gorgeous in a body-conscious bright pink dress.
She admitted to forgetting her lines at a live performance of the Broadway play recently.
“I enjoy doing the live play,” she tells David Letterman. “…(But) a couple (of) weeks ago I had the moment that I’ve been dreading. I have this kind of big speech in the second act and it’s pretty important because it goes along with the theme of the show.”
“I said the first line and I’m looking at (co-star) Judy Greer, and I’m supposed to be angry with her, and then the second line – I didn’t remember.”

“And I didn’t remember the third one. I just looked at her like, ah!” she added, trying to replicate Greer’s face back at her, which was a mixture of horror and bemusement. “Obviously, I know what the point of it is. So, I kind of made my way there,” said Holmes, she walked us through the adlibbing process, which seems difficult.
“Eventually you got back on track, right?” Letterman enquired. “How long did this misstep last?”
She said, “It felt like a good hour,”
Lorna, the high-strung sister of a con man who returns home with millions of dollars, is played by the Jack and Jill star in the comic play.
