Heavy Metal Model Julie Strain Is Not Dead

Malibu Bay Films, which had previously announced actress Julie Strain’s death, is now claiming that she is still alive.

“The information we received from a trusted source of the community on the status of [Malibu Bay Films] icon #julie strain was found to be FALSE!” they wrote on Instagram. “We deeply apologize for needlessly upsetting anyone.”

Her family resorted to Facebook to debunk the actress’s death rumors. “I just tucked Julie in for the night,” her boyfriend, who manages her social media accounts, posted on Facebook. “She is very comfortable and doing very well (considering her late-term dementia continues to take its toll). I promise that if anything serious was to happen I would post immediately. Thank you so much for your concern. Julie just fell asleep for the night

Arlene Sidaris, the owner of Malibu Bay Films (which her late husband, Andy Sidaris, created), claimed in an e-mail that she had “just spoken with Julie’s partner Dave who has confirmed that she is NOT dead.”

Strain, 57, acted in multiple B-movies for Malibu Bay Films.  “She will forever remain in our hearts and on our screens as the mesmerizingly talented, contagiously kind and incredibly powerful actress and heroine,” a company statement said. The post was deleted.

Strain has battled progressive dementia and the lasting consequences of a significant brain trauma she had in her early 20s following a terrible equestrian disaster in recent years. The native of neighboring Concord suffered the long path to rehabilitation as a former high school athlete in Pleasant Valley, California, before embarking on a career as a model and actress. Despite her physical issues, Strain managed to do a lot of her own stunt work throughout the years, amassing more than 100 film credits.

Strain was most known for her work as a model for the science fiction/fantasy magazine Heavy Metal, as well as her appearance in the magazine’s film, Heavy Metal 2000. Sorceress II: The Temptress, Thirteen Erotic Ghosts, Day of the Warrior, and The Devil’s Muse were among her many B-movies. Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult and Beverly Hills Cop III were two major films in which she appeared.

Strain’s curvaceous shape made her a popular model for illustrators, and her likeness became well-known among readers of Heavy Metal magazine, the legendary sci-fi magazine best renowned for its deep-space cheesecake covers for years. For a while, Strain was married to Kevin Eastman, Heavy Metal’s editor-in-chief and co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
