Ashley Greene is embroiled in a nude picture controversy after many shocking photographs leaked online.

News outlets were told by the star’s lawyer not to publish the humiliating photos. In a statement, her lawyer stated, “The photos in question, which appear to be of our client, are illegal and are being unlawfully displayed. Our client intends to take legal action.”

“Ms. Greene is the owner of the copyrights in these photos, and, as copyright owner, Ms. Greene owns the exclusive rights, among others, to reproduce, distribute, and to display the photos,” Greene’s attorney claimed.

Several websites have theorized that the images’ distribution was not a mistake, but rather a basic Hollywood marketing strategy to get Greene’s name out there. With all of the emphasis on ‘Twilight’ co-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, it’s conceivable that this was Greene’s method of gaining attention as well.

Perez Hilton had previously uploaded the images on his gossip site, but following the legal threat, he pulled them down.

“The nude images have been removed from PerezHilton.com at the request of Greene’s attorneys,” he added.

Ashley, who portrays Alice Cullen on the hit series, seemed unmoved by the incident at this weekend’s Teen Choice Awards, when she took up the award for Choice Fresh Face Female.

Hudgens, the actress of High School Musical, was left red-faced when a batch of her raunchy photos appeared online last week.
