Jonah Hill says he’s ‘humbled’ after beating Samuel L. Jackson to be the most foul-mouthed actor
Jonah Hill has achieved a new milestone.
On Wednesday, the Beach Bum star, 36, revealed that he has surpassed Samuel L. Jackson as the actor with the most curse words over their entire filmography, and he delightfully thanked those who helped him achieve the feat.
Hill has eclipsed Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson for the most swear words on film, according to a Buzz Bingo study. His roles in Superbad and Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street, both of which include massive amounts of profanity, contributed a significant portion of his total.
Hill captioned an image of the article from The Wrap on Instagram: “So many people to thank. @martinscorsese_ thanks for pushing me over the edge. And of course the great @samuelljackson. Humbled. (Also “new report”? Lol what team of scientists cracked this one?) ”

The Oscar nominee holds the crown with 376 swear words onscreen, the majority of which came in Martin Scorsese’s film about Jordan Belfort.
Hill is closely followed by Leonardo DiCaprio, who has 361 instances. Meanwhile, Samuel L. Jackson’s characters have cursed 301 times in total, or 6.9 times per 1,000 words said on screen. Adam Sandler came in at No. 4 on the list with his cameo in Uncut Gems, in which he utters the word “fuck” with reckless abandon.
With 715 swear words throughout the 180-minute film, Martin Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street” has been declared the “most foul-mouthed film” by Buzz Bingo.
In the comments section, Seth Rogen, who co-starred with Hill in films including Superbad, Knocked Up, and This Is the End, congratulated his frequent partner on the achievement.
“The dream,” he wrote.
Hill then responded, “we should make a last dance style doc of me exhausted getting to the final f—,” referring to a 2020 ESPN docuseries on Michael Jordan’s basketball career. “‘I can’t do it anymore!’ ”
Adam Levine said he’s “so fucking proud.” Travis Scott, Rashida Jones, and Boi1da also commented.
