Orlando Bloom shares throwback photo of Lord Of The Rings cast getting matching tattoos
The last Lord of the Rings film was released about 13 years ago, but Legolas and the rest of the fellowship have a lasting reminder of their time in Middle Earth.
Orlando Bloom shared an old photo of himself and the rest of the cast getting matching tattoos to commemorate the conclusion of production on Instagram yesterday.
From left to right: Billy Boyd (Pippin), Sean Astin (Sam), Dominic Monaghan (Merry), Orlando himself (Legolas), Ian McKellen (Gandalf), Elijah Wood (Frodo) and Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn).
Orlando captioned: ‘tbt to when we all got tats cos we loved so much.’

The actor, who was in his twenties at the time of the photo, shows off his mischievous side with his Playboy-themed sweatshirt.
Monagahan told EW earlier this year about the tattoos, explaining that he and the other cast members debated whether to have a tattoo of the One Ring or the word “fellowship” before opting for the number nine. They then proceeded to be tattooed in an old tattoo parlor in Wellington, New Zealand.
“It was one of those beautiful moments, where we all felt like we had been through this war, this battle, together in a lot of different ways,” Monaghan recalled. “That really brought together that family feeling.”
The tattoo was the word ‘nine,’ written in Elvish, the language of Tolkein. What’s the significance of nine? Because in, well, The Fellowship of the Ring, there were nine members who set out from Rivendell.
Meanwhile, when filming abroad last month, Orlando channeled some of his wrath into a workout.
He showed off his muscular physique in a video of himself exercising with a martial arts fighter.
The Lord Of The Rings has become one of the most popular film franchises of all time, with 17 Academy Award wins out of 30 nominations.
