Jessica Alba’s ‘Machete’ nude scene was Computer Generated

And now comes the future of cinematic nudity. Remember Jessica Alba in Robert Rodriguez’s Machete’s shower scene? She was naked… right? Wrong. You might be astonished to hear that she wasn’t completely naked, despite the fact that she appeared to be. The scene’s whole nakedness was added in post-production.

Last week, fans were astonished when a naked scene from Jessica Alba’s new movie, Machete, was released in the press.

You’ll recognize the moment if you’ve seen the movie. Alba is shown in the shower in side view. She seems to be naked, although she was wearing clothing and the filmmakers were able to make it look that she was naked using CGI effects.

Alba’s agent acknowledged to the Daily Mail that the actress filmed her suggestive shower scene in a bra and underpants that were later digitally deleted.

After all, Alba has previously stated that she would never go naked in front of a camera, saying, “No, I’ll never do a nude scene. I can act sexy and wear sexy clothes but I can’t go naked.’

‘I think I was always very uncomfortable about the way my body developed, and I remember my grandmother would freak out and throw a towel over me if she saw me wearing just a bra and panties,’ the Sin City actor continued.

‘I come from a very Catholic family so it wasn’t seen as a good thing to flaunt yourself like that. I can handle being sexy with clothes on but not with them off.’

Clearly, Robert Rodriguez wanted Alba to be naked in the picture in order to sell more tickets. After all, I’m sure a lot of people would have gone to watch it if they had known Alba was naked.

“Jessica has been steadfast in her resolve not to appear nude in films from the beginning of her career,” Alba’s rep told ew.com. “The decision to digitally remove the underwear from the shower scene in ‘Machete’ was one she and Robert Rodriguez made together, which would serve his vision for the film, as well as honor her personal convictions regarding nudity.”

The movie also stars Robert De Niro, Steven Seagal, Lindsay Lohan, Michelle Rodriguez, Don Johnson and ex-con Danny Trejo in the lead role as Machete.

It’s an arthouse ‘Mexploitation’ action film about an ex-Federale, or above-the-law officer, who goes on a vicious vengeance spree against his old employer after he betrays him.

Movie purists are suddenly freaking out over whether or not CGI manipulation detracts from Robert Rodriguez’s film’s beauty.

Fake nudity, according to producer Germain Lussier, might detract from the actors’ performances by removing the rawness and vulnerability of a nude performance.

On Slashfilm.com, he noted, “There’s a huge different between acting naked and just being naked.”

Nudity has also been employed in non-sexual contexts in films. Consider movies like Schindler’s List, which depicts the horrors of war, A Clockwork Orange, which conveys a feeling of realism and dread, and Eastern Promises, which features a terrible shower fight scene. These are just a handful of the many ways in which nudity is employed in movies to help tell a story.
