King Charles III to Receive Royal Regalia of Scotland in Dedication Ceremony

King Charles III is set to receive the Royal Regalia of Scotland in a special dedication ceremony.

A custom-designed sword, known as the Sword of Elizabeth, will be presented to His Majesty during the thanksgiving and dedication service in Edinburgh.

The ceremony, which will take place on July 5 at St Giles Cathedral, will mark the transfer of the oldest crown jewels in Great Britain to the new monarch.

The Royal Regalia of Scotland consists of the crown, scepter, and sword of the state.

However, due to the fragility of the existing 16th-century sword, a new one was created specifically for King Charles III.

This new sword, named after Queen Elizabeth, will be handed over to the king during the ceremony.

Traditionally, upon coronation, British monarchs receive the Scottish Regalia.

In this case, the transfer will occur during the thanksgiving and dedication service at St Giles Cathedral next week.

The Stone of Destiny, which played a significant role in the coronation at Westminster Abbey, will also be present at the cathedral for the service.

To mark the occasion, a procession consisting of approximately 100 community groups will transport the Regalia from Edinburgh Castle to the nearby cathedral.

During the service, Dame Catherine Granger will carry the Sword of Elizabeth, Lady Dorian will carry the scepter, and the crown will be carried by the Duke of Hamilton.

Dame Catherine expressed her deep honor in carrying the Sword of Elizabeth on this historic day for Scotland.

She hopes to pay tribute to the sword and the significance of the event.

Being able to play a part in such a momentous celebration for the king and the country is a great privilege for her.

The Sword of Elizabeth, designed by Mark Dennis and crafted by skilled Scottish artisans, cost £22,000.

Scotland’s Regalia holds immense historical significance, having been present at numerous ceremonial events spanning over 500 years.

As Scotland prepares to welcome a new king and queen, the Sword of Elizabeth serves as a fitting tribute to the late Queen.

In conclusion, the dedication ceremony for the Royal Regalia of Scotland will be a momentous event for King Charles III.
