Meghan Markle: Rejection and Disappointment in Hollywood

Meghan Markle’s journey to royalty was not an easy one.

Before she met Prince Harry, the Duchess of Sussex faced repeated rejection in Hollywood.

According to biographer Tom Bauer, every small success she achieved was accompanied by disappointment on a larger stage.

Bauer revealed that in June 2015, Meghan secured a two-year contract with Raitmans, Canada’s largest women’s clothing retailer.

However, her aspirations went beyond that.

She longed to become the face of renowned designer brand Ralph Lauren.

During a visit to London, Meghan attended a small meeting where actress Emma Watson, her hero and role model, was speaking.

At the end of the session, Meghan mustered up the courage to ask for a meeting with Watson, only to be rejected.

The snub was mortifying for her.

It was in July 2016, while working as an actress in the US legal drama “Suits,” that Meghan met Prince Harry.

Prior to this, her most notable role was as paralegal Rachel in the show from 2011 to 2018.

Meghan has often claimed that her biracial background hindered her chances in Hollywood.

She expressed, “I wasn’t black enough for the black roles and I wasn’t white enough for the white roles.”

However, actor Shemar Moore, who is also of mixed race, contradicts Meghan’s claims.

Moore stated that he has never faced any obstacles in Hollywood due to his mixed race heritage and advised Meghan to stop complaining.

Shemar Moore serves as a prime example of why race was not a determining factor in Meghan Markle’s struggle in Hollywood.

In the 1970s, being in a mixed race relationship was considered taboo, just like Shemar’s parents’ relationship.

His mother, Marilyn Wilson, is white, while his father, Sherrod Moore, is African American.

Contrary to Meghan’s situation, many people are aware that Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, is white, and her mother, Doria, is black.

You might be wondering why the racial aspect is relevant.

Shemar Moore is undeniably talented, excelling as both a model and a successful actor with Emmy awards to his name.

On the other hand, Meghan has never been a finalist for any significant awards.

Tinseltown boasts numerous talented mixed race actors, such as Zendaya, who, like Shemar, has a white mother and a black father.

Another example is Zoe Kravitz, who inherits her mixed race heritage from her parents, Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet.

Shemar successfully transitioned from soap operas, where he won his Emmy, to major motion pictures.

He had cameo appearances in notable films like “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” and Tyler Perry’s “Diary of a Mad Black Woman.”

In contrast, Meghan only made brief cameos in movies like “Remember Me” and “Horrible Bosses,” each lasting less than two minutes.

Shemar has always embraced his mixed race heritage.

Despite his father leaving, his mother raised him with a strong sense of identity.

He even acknowledged one of his brothers on Twitter in 2012.

Shemar openly discussed how his parents defied societal norms by being together during a time when interracial unions were frowned upon.

Although he admitted to having a strained connection with his father, he recognized the impact his father had on his life.

In Meghan’s case, her relationship with her father remained close until 2018 when he started staging paparazzi photos before her wedding.

During this time, he suffered a near-fatal heart attack and was disowned by Meghan while he was still recovering in the hospital.

It seems that Meghan is comfortable administering her own pap tests, but when it comes to her father, the situation becomes unbearably stressful.

In conclusion, Shemar Moore’s extraordinary talent shines regardless of his skin tone.

However, Meghan Markle appears to be oblivious to her lack of talent, despite her royal status.

Hollywood has witnessed numerous successful mixed race actors who have excelled in their careers, proving that talent knows no boundaries.
