Reconciliation Hopes Dwindle as Royal Family Shows Little Sympathy to Sussexes

Prospects of reconciliation between the Sussexes and the rest of the royal family following the Queen’s death appeared short-lived as there was little interaction during the funeral on Monday.

Tom Bower, a renowned royal expert and author of Revenge, Meghan, Harry and the War between the Windsors, believes that the Sussexes will return to California feeling furious after the royal family displayed very little sympathy towards them following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

According to Mr Bower, Harry and Meghan seemed quite angry during the funeral because they felt they were not being given the respect they believe they deserve.

Despite rumors of improved relations between the Sussexes and the Cambridges in the past two weeks, with both couples appearing together the weekend after the Queen’s passing, Mr Bower dismisses notions of reconciliation.

He argues that Meghan and Harry have made terrible statements in the past, making it impossible for genuine reconciliation to take place.

Mr Bower emphasizes, “I thought the whole way the rest of the royal family treated Meghan and Harry today showed that they had very little sympathy towards them.

And, in return, Meghan and Harry looked quite angry that they were not being treated with the respect they think they deserve.

They are going to go back to Montecito fuming, and the autobiography of Prince Harry will soon be unearthed and released.”

Mr Bower expresses curiosity about the conversation between Sophie Wessex and Meghan Markle during their limousine ride from Westminster Hall to the church.

He wonders if Sophie, known for her straightforwardness, told Meghan exactly what everyone else thinks of her.

In his view, the idea that the body language between William and Harry indicated reconciliation is simply nonsense.

How can there be reconciliation when Harry and Meghan have made such damning remarks about William and his wife?

Mr Bower asserts that unless the Sussexes apologize, there is no basis for sympathy towards them.

Following the Queen’s passing, Prince Harry and Meghan, along with Prince William and Kate, appeared outside Windsor Castle to greet well-wishers and witness people’s tributes to their grandmother.

This brought back memories of the “Fab Four,” as they were known before the Sussexes’ contentious split from the Royals in 2020.

The two couples exchanged words and seemed to be getting along.

Unlike at Prince Philip’s funeral in 2021, where the brothers had to be separated during the procession, this time they stood together as the Queen’s coffin was taken to Westminster Hall several days later.

To many, it appeared that the loss of their grandmother had partially reconciled the brothers.

However, the funeral and burial of the late monarch on Monday painted a different picture.

Although Harry and William once again stood next to each other during the processions, there was no eye contact and minimal interaction between them.

Sitting on opposite sides of the aisle during the ceremony at Westminster Abbey, it resembled the St Paul’s Cathedral Thanksgiving service for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee several months earlier, where the two did not communicate at all.

Reports also suggest that the Sussexes’ invitation to a reception attended by world leaders on Sunday evening was revoked, indicating that relations remained frosty.

Since stepping down from royal duties, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have relocated to Los Angeles, California.

Prince Harry expressed that, for now, home is in the States, stating, “We’ve been welcomed with open arms, and we’ve got such a great community up in Santa Barbara.”

During his inauguration speech, King Charles conveyed his best wishes to the couple, expressing his love for Harry and Meghan as they continue building their lives overseas.
