Netflix’s Hopes Dashed as Harry Excluded from Crucial Coronation Moments

Prince Harry’s anticipated return for his father’s coronation next month has stirred mixed reactions in America, with Hollywood insiders suggesting that the couple’s celebrity status is at a critical juncture.

The Sussexes’ reputation hinges on Harry being perceived as an active member of the royal family, making his decision to attend the coronation warmly received in Los Angeles.

A Netflix source revealed that Brand Sussex heavily relies on Harry’s presence with his family, as it enhances their commercial appeal.

“At the end of the day, it’s all about proximity to the king,” the source explained.

“Harry only matters because of the family that he’s constantly attacking.

He’s only going because of Netflix, but more importantly, Netflix only admits they care about the Sussexes because of the royal family.”

However, Netflix’s plans suffered a setback when Harry was informed that he would not be able to participate in the most significant moments of the upcoming coronation.

As Harry is no longer a working royal, his position has been altered, preventing him from standing near the new king.

Consequently, it seems unlikely that the couple’s second Netflix show will continue to feature royal footage.

Experts consider their project worthless without the royal element.

Netflix expects and pays for images, particularly of Harry alongside his father during the crowning ceremony, the carriage procession, and on the balcony.

However, these expectations are unlikely to be met.

Harry will be positioned several rows back during the crowning, making it difficult to capture clear shots of him.

He will not have access to the working royals-only balcony or join the carriage procession; instead, he will be on a bus with non-working royals.

Furthermore, Harry will not be allowed to walk alone, effectively dashing Netflix’s hopes for footage of him in such a scenario.

To complicate matters for Netflix, the BBC will have exclusive control over the cameras inside Westminster Abbey during the coronation.

Other networks, including CBS and ABC, will have to rely on the provided feed.

The moment Charles is anointed will not be televised, as trusted crews are necessary to ensure this.

Similar to Diana’s funeral, where cameras were prohibited from capturing the family during the service, Harry’s presence during crucial moments will likely remain unseen.

While Harry is expected to attend only the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey on the morning of May 6th, Meghan will be hosting their son Archie’s fourth birthday celebration at their £11.7 million Montecito mansion.

Harry is determined to return home in time to partake in the festivities, aided by the eight-hour time difference.

A senior executive at Walt Disney Studios emphasized the importance of Harry’s presence at the coronation, as it is a significant part of the narrative in America.

The executive explained that Harry’s attendance would either solidify his embrace or perpetuate the ongoing narrative.

Keeping the story evolving is crucial for building their brand and attracting offers.

“The danger Harry and Meghan face is becoming irrelevant,” the executive added.

“Americans care about the royal family.

We’ve always been fascinated by the royals.

Harry is Diana’s son.

Nothing will ever change that.”

In conclusion, Netflix’s aspirations to capture exclusive footage of Harry’s involvement in his father’s coronation have been thwarted.

Despite his return to the UK for the event, Harry’s limited access to important moments and the BBC’s control over the cameras in Westminster Abbey have dashed Netflix’s hopes.

The couple’s commercial status is now at a turning point, with their relevance and appeal dependent on Harry’s portrayal as an active member of the royal family.
