Lady Louis Misses Out on New Title, Sparking Outrage Among Fans

Lady Louis, the 19-year-old daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie Countess of Wessex, has been left without a new title following her father’s recent promotion to the Duke of Edinburgh.

This decision has sparked outrage among fans who question why she has been excluded from receiving a new title.

According to Dr. Craig Prescott, an expert in UK constitutional law and politics at Bangor University, Lady Louis is unable to take on another title due to her position in the line of succession.

While it is possible for the King to grant her a title, her parents do not seem inclined to pursue this option.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams suggests that Lady Louis’s unchanged title reflects the family’s lack of plans for her to become a working member of the royal family.

As there are likely to be fewer royals performing royal duties in the future, this decision aligns with their intentions.

Lady Louis is entitled to the title of Princess as she is a male-lined grandchild of a monarch.

However, her parents have chosen not to bestow this title upon her.

When Prince Edward and Sophie married in 1990, Buckingham Palace announced that their children would not be given the style His or Her Royal Highness, but would instead have courtesy titles as sons or daughters of an earl.

Sophie has since spoken out on this matter, stating that the couple is raising their children with the understanding that they will have to work for a living.

Lady Louis, who turned 18 in November 2021, did not opt to take on the Princess title.

She is currently studying English at St. Andrews University, where she began her first year in September 2022.

Despite being older than her brother, Lady Louis is currently 15th in line to the throne, behind her brother who sits in the 14th position.

This is due to the old rules of male primogeniture, which were only changed by the 2013 Succession to the Crown Act for those born after October 28, 2011.

Lady Louis was born in November 2003, so her brother remains ahead of her in the line of succession.

The lack of a new title for Lady Louis has also affected the King’s sister, the Princess Royal, who remains 16th in line to the throne despite being older than her brothers Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.

This discrepancy has caused frustration among royal fans, who have taken to social media to express their anger.

Many believe it is unfair that Lady Louis’ younger brother has received a more formal title while she has been left out.

Some have even urged Lady Louis to embrace her birthright as a Princess.

However, others argue that it is time for the royal family to move into the 21st century and discard outdated protocols.

Lady Louis is known to be a private individual and is rarely seen in public.

Although she has accompanied her parents to various royal engagements, it remains to be seen if she will take on any formal royal duties in the future.

The news of Lady Louis missing out on a new title has sparked a debate among royal enthusiasts.
