Lewis Capaldi Takes Break from Touring for Mental and Physical Health

Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi has announced that he will be taking a break from touring in the foreseeable future to prioritize his mental and physical health.

In a statement shared on his Instagram on Tuesday, the 26-year-old artist described this decision as the most difficult one of his life.

Capaldi’s announcement comes after he struggled to finish his set at Glastonbury on Saturday, where he received tremendous support from the crowd.

Prior to his appearance at the English Music Festival, Capaldi had already canceled three weeks of performances to allow himself time to rest and recover both mentally and physically.

In his Instagram post, he expressed his regret and apologized to his fans, stating, “The fact that this probably won’t come as a surprise doesn’t make it any easier to write, but I’m very sorry to let you know I’m going to be taking a break from touring for the foreseeable future.”

Capaldi went on to explain that he had hoped the three-week break would help him regain his enjoyment of performing, but he realized that he still needed more time to adjust to the impact of his Tourette’s syndrome on his overall well-being.

He emphasized the importance of taking care of his mental and physical health in order to continue pursuing his passion for music in the long run.

The singer has been open about his struggles with anxiety and revealed his diagnosis of Tourette’s syndrome in September 2022.

Capaldi expressed his gratitude for being able to take time off when others may not have that privilege.

He thanked his family, friends, team, medical professionals, and all his supportive fans who have stood by him throughout his journey, particularly during the past year when he needed it the most.

In conclusion, Capaldi apologized to everyone who had planned to attend his shows before the end of the year, acknowledging that he needed to feel well in order to deliver the standard of performance his fans deserve.

He expressed his deep love and appreciation for his audience, stating, “Playing for you every night is all I’ve ever dreamed of, so this has been the most difficult decision of my life.

I’ll be back as soon as I possibly can.”

During his performance at Glastonbury, Capaldi visibly struggled while singing his chart-topping hit, “Someone You Loved.”

Dealing with involuntary movements and a breaking voice, he was carried through the song by the supportive crowd who sang along with him.

Before the performance, Capaldi shared with the audience that he had recently taken a three-week break to prioritize his mental health and expressed his gratitude for their presence and support.

Capaldi concluded his set by mentioning that he might take another break in the coming weeks, possibly extending into the rest of the year.

However, he assured his fans that when he does return, he hopes they will be there to watch him perform.

As the song came to an end, Capaldi expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Glastonbury crowd, stating, “Thank you so much.

Thank you.

It genuinely means the world to me to do this, so thank you very f-ing much.

If I never get to do it again, this has been enough.”

Lewis Capaldi’s decision to prioritize his mental and physical health serves as a reminder of the importance of self-care and well-being, even for those in the spotlight.

We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to his return to the stage when he is ready.
