Kurt Cobain would have approved of the way Nirvana’s music was utilized in a recent episode of Succession, according to Courtney Love.

The controversially titled ‘Rape Me,’ from Nirvana’s 1993 album In Utero, was included it a stunning scene with actress Sarah Snook in the third episode of season three, titled ‘The Disruption.’

In a now-expired post on her Instagram story, the late Nirvana frontman’s wife stated, “I was in the room watching (agog) as this song was written in about an hour, and I’ve never been so proud of approving one of Kurt’s songs, this cue in @succession is as if they truly understood kc what he was screaming his heart out… without specifics… about. I’m sure wherever he is he’s proud of this.”

Love added on Twitter: “I’ve never felt so good about approving a usage of a song of Kurt’s. You understood this: him, it’s beautiful. I’m sure he’s proud.”

She also hinted that she would divulge the source of the song in the future, saying, “Ask me who it’s about one day. I might even tell you.”

Kendall, played by Jeremy Strong, sabotaged his sister Shiv, played by Sarah Snook, in the episode by blaring the 1993 song over the speakers while she was leading an important Waystar Royco meeting.

Shiv tries valiantly to keep her emotions in check and focus on her words. However, the music continues to drown out her statements, forcing her to rush out of the room. Shiv is furious because her brother has squandered her chance to shine as a corporate leader. What a case of sibling rivalry!

The song’s inclusion is surprising, not because the estate of Nirvana leader and primary composer Kurt Cobain is picky about where his music is used — though they are — but because it’s very probably the group’s most polarizing song.

Shiv is then seen spitting on Kendall’s notepad in another dramatic scene, before she exacts her ultimate revenge by making a scathing statement about her brother’s mental health.

The third season of the satirical comedy-drama is now airing.

HBO just announced that the series had been renewed for a fourth season.

Nirvana recently won a lawsuit alleging that one of its most well-known T-shirt designs is based on a copyrighted picture of Dante’s ‘Inferno.’

The action against Nirvana and Live Nation’s merchandise business, which involved the band’s ‘Vestibule’ t-shirt, was dismissed by US District Judge Dale S. Fischer.
