‘I was fired because I wouldn’t sleep with my boss’ – Jane Fonda
Hollywood actress Jane Fonda has revealed that she was raped and sexually abused as a child.
In an interview with fellow actress Brie Larson, Fonda spoke about her experiences and the impact they had on her life.
“I’ve been raped, I’ve been sexually abused as a child and I’ve been fired because I wouldn’t sleep with my boss,” Fonda said.
She also shared that she always thought it was her fault and that she didn’t say or do the right thing.
Fonda, who is now 79 years old, has been a prominent activist for women’s rights for many years. In 2001, she founded the Center for Adolescent Reproductive Health, which aims to prevent teenage pregnancy.

She is also an active member of the global V-Day movement, which works to stop violence against women.
“I know young girls who’ve been raped and didn’t even know it was rape,” Fonda said. “They think, ‘It must have been because I said no the wrong way.'”
Fonda’s mother, Frances Ford Seymour, was also a victim of sexual abuse as a child. She committed suicide when Fonda was 12 years old.
Fonda only discovered the truth about her mother’s past while preparing her memoirs and reviewing her mother’s medical history.
“The minute that I read that, everything fell into place,” Fonda said.
“I knew why the promiscuity, the endless plastic surgery, the guilt, the inability to love or be intimate, and I was able to forgive her and forgive myself.”
Fonda also spoke about the difficulty she had in standing up for herself and saying no. “If anyone offered me anything I would say yes,” she said.
“I took parts I wasn’t right for and I was taken advantage of. I didn’t know how to stand up for myself. Now, I would say, ‘No. This is a piece of s—. I don’t like the way you’re treating me,’ and leave. If only I had known then what I do now.”
Regardless, Fonda has had a successful career in Hollywood. She has won two Academy Awards and has been nominated for several other awards throughout her career.
She has also used her platform to speak out about issues that are important to her, such as women’s rights and the environment.
Fonda’s activism and acting have made her an influential and respected figure in the entertainment industry.
