Thandie Newton recalls being gr*ped by a male co-star

Thandie Newton, renowned British actress, has alleged that she was sexually assaulted by a male co-star.

Known for her roles in popular films like Crash, Mission: Impossible II, and The Pursuit of Happyness, Newton spoke out against the pervasive issue of sexual abuse in the film industry and beyond.

She shared her personal experience of being gr*ped by a co-actor, expressing her confusion at the situation given her marriage and motherhood status at the time.

Newton, 43, emphasized that the problem of sexual abuse is rampant across all industries and locations.

The BAFTA-winning actress has not named the co-star involved or the film they were working on.

Newton, a mother of three and wife to scriptwriter Ol Parker, has been vocal about her opinions in the past.

She recounted an instance when she questioned a producer about the necessity of appearing topless in a scene, to which he responded by focusing on the potential for increased ratings.

While not specifying which film this occurred in, Newton did appear topless in a controversial scene for the crime drama Rogue.

However, she justified the scene as necessary for the plot and expressed her comfort with the cast and crew involved.

As a vegan, Newton has also used social media to advocate for bodily autonomy and personal choice.

She posted a photo of herself breastfeeding her two-year-old son at a music festival, emphasizing her freedom to choose how she uses her body.

The actress revealed another disturbing incident from her past, in which a director filmed up her skirt during an audition and later showed the footage to his friends.

Newton acknowledged that a publicist had cautioned her against discussing sexual abuse in the entertainment industry due to the potential impact on her career.

Still, she insisted on continuing the conversation to protect young people.

Currently set to appear in the new sci-fi TV series Westworld, Newton is also supporting a campaign to end tipping, as she believes the system leaves female staff vulnerable to abuse by customers and managers.
