Emma Thompson hates wearing underwear: ‘It’s torture’

Emma Thompson, a British actress, has shared that wearing the undergarments required for her role as the Baroness von Hellman in the upcoming film “Cruella” was “torture.”

Thompson revealed in an interview with “Lorraine” that she stopped wearing underwear a long time ago and that comfortable underwear makes her uncomfortable.

She described the underwear required for her character as “industrial,” and likened it to shapewear.

Thompson’s co-star, Emma Stone, found humor in the situation, laughing so hard she cried as Thompson continued to describe the uncomfortable undergarments required for her character’s silhouettes.

Thompson said it was like “squeezing a tube of toothpaste” and that “if you put Mr. Blobby into that corset, he would look good.”

Stone, on the other hand, enjoyed her hair and makeup for the film, including her Dalmatian coat and a dress made from garbage.

Stone described the dress as “mind-blowing” and complete with a 40-foot train.

“Cruella” follows Stone’s character, Estella, as she transforms into the villainous Cruella, with Thompson playing the ruthless fashion designer Baroness von Hellman.

Thompson has described the experience of playing the character as “fabulous” despite the discomfort caused by the required undergarments.

The use of corsets and shapewear in films has been a topic of controversy and discussion in recent years.

Some actors have spoken out against the discomfort and even health risks caused by tight corsets and other restrictive undergarments required for period costumes.

Thompson’s comments have sparked a conversation on social media about the pressure on actors, especially women, to conform to unrealistic beauty standards in film and television.

Many have applauded her for speaking out about the discomfort caused by the undergarments required for her role.

“Cruella” is set to release in theaters and on Disney+ Premier Access on May 28, 2021.

The film has already generated buzz for its stylish costumes and performances by Stone and Thompson.

Thompson is a two-time Academy Award winner known for her roles in films such as “Sense and Sensibility,” “Love Actually,” and “Saving Mr. Banks.”

Stone is an Academy Award-winning actress known for her roles in films such as “La La Land,” “The Help,” and “Birdman.”

“Cruella” is directed by Craig Gillespie and written by Dana Fox and Tony McNamara.

The film also stars Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, and Emily Beecham.
