Actress Viola Davis suffered an injury while filming a sex scene with co-star Billy Brown on How To Get Away With Murder.

Davis revealed the incident on Jimmy Kimmel Live and added some humor to the story.

“Well, we really went for it. I said, ‘Listen, I’m always playing these maids, I always gotta gain 40 pounds for a role.’ I said, ‘I wanna be sxy. I’m pulling out all the stops.’ So, I went for it…and threw my back out,” Davis said.

Although sex scenes may seem fun to watch, they can be dangerous and awkward to shoot, as Davis’ story on Jimmy Kimmel Live proves.

During the scene, the director asked Brown to slam Davis against a wall to make it more realistic.

Davis said she regretted her decision when she felt the false wall shaking behind her, but the back pain was a major surprise.

Davis has recovered well from the injury and has continued to play her role as Annalise Keating on How To Get Away With Murder.

In fact, Davis won an Emmy for her portrayal of Keating in 2015.

How To Get Away With Murder follows the story of Annalise Keating, a charismatic and brilliant law professor who also works as a criminal defense attorney.

Davis’ previous roles have not been as physically demanding as her role in How To Get Away With Murder.

For example, in her role as Aibileen in The Help, she did not have to perform any stunts or sex scenes.

Although she received an Academy Award nomination for The Help, Davis has been able to showcase her range as an actress in her role as Keating.

Davis has also landed the role of Amanda Waller in the highly-anticipated Suicide Squad film, set to hit the big screen in August of 2016.

The film follows a team of villains who are forced to work together to complete a mission.

In addition to her role in the film, viewers can catch more of Davis as Annalise Keating on How To Get Away With Murder on Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
