Joan Collins turned down ‘s-x with Warren Beatty’ during their romance

Actress Joan Collins has opened up about her relationship with Warren Beatty during her early days in Hollywood, and how she believes that having an abortion during that time was the right decision for her career.

Collins recently celebrated her 70th year on screen and discussed her experiences during an interview to mark the occasion.

Collins received advice from Marilyn Monroe on the dangers of Hollywood, particularly regarding the casting couch, which she refused to use, and believes that this may have cost her further success in the industry.

“There was such an air of misogyny. That was the world and a lot of young girls at that time, particularly if you’re good looking, it was tough. I was used to Hollywood men being rude,” Collins said.

However, Collins’ experience with Beatty was different, describing it as “quite a passionate relationship, it was quite demanding he was 22.”

The couple became engaged and Collins fell pregnant but decided to have an abortion as she felt that it would have been detrimental to her career.

“I hesitated but I realised that if I was going to have a child I was going to be able to bring the child up properly, and I believed very strongly that I’m in charge of my body,” Collins explained.

Collins’ feminist beliefs influenced her decision to have an abortion, stating that she felt it was the right decision for her and that she had no regrets.

She said, “I was a feminist before the word was heard, and I should do, what I felt was right for me. It would have ruined my life. I didn’t have a tinge of regret.”

Collins also recounted how she was pursued by some of the biggest stars of the Sixties, including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Richard Burton.

Sinatra wanted to fly her to Hamburg for a date but put the phone down on her when she said she had to work on a film.

Martin banged on her door at 4am saying “Joannie I just want to have a drink,” while Burton wanted to bed her.

Collins refused, saying “I don’t want to be a notch on your bedpost.”

In addition to discussing her personal life, Collins also discussed her experiences as a female actor during her time on the US soap opera Dynasty.

She revealed that she had to fight for pay parity with her male co-star John Forsythe, who was making

$25-30,000 per episode, while Collins was only making $15,000. She eventually received $120,000 per episode, but was not featured in all episodes of the season due to budget constraints.

Regarding her relationship with Forsythe, Collins did not hold back, stating “I didn’t like him because he was a misogynist p****.”

Collins’ personal life also included having three children later in life and being married to her fifth husband, Percy Gibson.

Throughout her lengthy career, Collins has been a trailblazer for women in the entertainment industry.

Her experiences with misogyny in Hollywood have inspired her to advocate for gender equality in her personal life as well as her professional one.

Collins first rose to fame in the 1950s and 1960s with films such as “The Girl in the Red Velvet Swing” and “Rally ‘Round the Flag, Boys!”

She became an international star with her role as Alexis Carrington on the hit television series “Dynasty,” which aired from 1981 to 1989.

Despite facing challenges and obstacles in her career, Collins remained resilient and determined.

In 2015, she was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire for her services to charity.

Throughout her life, Collins has been an advocate for women’s rights, and has spoken out against sexism and misogyny in the entertainment industry.

She believes that women should be able to control their own bodies and make their own decisions about their lives and careers.

Collins’ experiences with sexism and discrimination in Hollywood have inspired her to be a vocal advocate for women’s rights.

She believes that women should be treated with the same respect and dignity as men, and that the entertainment industry needs to do more to support and promote women in all areas of the business.

Collins’ career has been marked by her talent, hard work, and resilience. She has never shied away from speaking out against injustice, and has used her platform to advocate for change.

Her legacy as a feminist icon and trailblazer will continue to inspire generations of women for years to come.
